Watching the WVU-ECU game...and DEAR LORD...the refs are terrible...can someone explain to me how you can call Offensive Pass Interference on someone who was in front of where the ball was thrown and didn't, you know, smack the guy?

WVU 21 ECU 20...

WVU is clearly the better team, however thanks to some stupid penalties (both the fault of the players and the refs...) and a couple of muffed punts by two different players is the only reason ECU is still in the game. ECU gets the ball in the second half and hopefully WVU can clean up their act further and put them away...

Edit:

Game over

WVU 35 ECU 20

I have to admit, despite how sloppy WVU played, I was impressed. The defense shut ECU down in the second half despite the fact that they lost their leaders in Reed Williams and Scooter Berry and one of their better Safeties to injuries. Kick-Off coverage was better (shock!) but two muffed punts is inexcusable. Jarret Brown was phenomenal, putting up getting 400 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns through the air! Oh yeah...WVU's offense eclipsed the 500 yard mark for the second time against ECU in 6 years (the last time being 2007). With that being said, we really need to avoid this sloppy play against Auburn next week. I think it's all out of our system but if we get off to this sort of start again, I doubt we will win next week. If it is out of our system then we could be a very dangerous team. Finally, coaching seems to have improved as well. I saw some people in Justin.TV criticizing Stew for running the ball with 5 minutes to go and being up by 15 however...I think just about every coach in the country would be running the ball in that situation especially when you have a back like Devine.

Speaking of dangerous teams, if these first 2 weeks are a sign of things to come, the Big East might have 3 very good teams this year in Cincinnati, WVU and Pitt. Pitt put up 50 against Buffalo, which is impressive, and Cincinnati's shelacking of Rutgers this past monday is still fresh on everyone's mind. We'll have to see how the year plays out, but it wouldn't surprise me if all three teams ended up in the top 25 by the end of the year and if everything goes really well, we could be talking about 2 Big East teams vying for BCS spots instead of just 1 (of course...when I say well I mean everything has to go these three teams ways through the entire year...). Adding to the joys of the Big East is the fact that Syracuse only lost by 21 too Pen State which, considering this is Syracuse, is almost as good as a victory.

Well, over a half a week later I figure I'm over WVU's loss enough to bump this thread...get your picks in before this next weekend guys since they've been up for a while...and yeah...turnovers are killer...

We've had some close calls today and a couple of upsets, most impressive of which was Oregon's stomping of Cal. Also, any hopes the Big East had of getting two teams into the BCS were just finished off this week with Pitt's loss to NC State...unless USF goes unbeaten or something...

...Wow. Seeing all of this reminds me why I absolutely LOVE football season. Well, besides marching band, that's definitely the biggest reason. But this part is great, too. I have to say, I'm relatively pleased with Georgia so far. I haven't seen much of them, cause of band, but I heard they barely won the last game...I believe they'll pull it together against LSU, though. Or at least, they sure as heck better, cause one of the Trumpet players is a huge LSU fan...

It's about time. However, how much do you want to bet he stays for another year...Seriously, Paterno and Bowden aren't going to leave unless they are forced out or die on the job...Well, maybe Paterno would leave if his team could win him another title...but that seems unlikely.

That's because the student body for each school has a bet on who dies first on the football field.

I hear that both PSU and FSU have a grave dug behind goal post in the north end zone.

I hear they each have a coffin in their locker room and a Pastor somewhere in the stands. That way they can hold the funeral after or during the game.

Wow. Yeah, we're done. It's like halfway through the season and we've got three losses. We're done. *sigh* Maybe the Dawgs can win homecoming though...my high school team lost 24-10 against a 0-4 team on homecoming. XD At least the Band had fun!

Your giving up on the team too soon. They have six more games to go and there is only three that I see that UGA will have a problem with.

They should beat Vanderbilt, Tennessee Tech and Kentucky. The teams that should be a problem are Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech.

Its just like my Vols, they are three and three and I'm happy that they are just at that. A good number of fans felt that there was no way that the Vols would beat UGA.

LSU not that good and I really think that Florida is overrated. So far, Alabama is the only one that looks good in the SEC.

Georgia will go bowling as long as they win those three games and they should.

Well...another year and another WVU win over Marshall. You know, last year I thought Marshall had the perfect opportunity to win, then this year happened with its turnovers, its penalties, and it's 5th year starting quarterback getting knocked out in the first possession of the game...and yet we still won by more then one touchdown.

Best thing that I read all day.

SEC fines Urban Meyer $30,000 for criticizing officials

Urban Cryer, didn't have a problem with Brandon Spikes trying to poke Washawn Ealey eyes out, but he gets his panties in a knot because his little angel at QB got a late hit.

Both should have been called, but Mr. Meyer shouldn't go whining about it, since he just gave Spikes a half game suspending.

If I ever needed more reasons to hate the Gators, but Meyer is taken it to a new level for fans to hate the Gators.

It's a shame, too, because I think Tebow is a pretty good guy. But Meyer is a hot-head. It's just as well, I never liked the Gators.

Tebow...you know he really does seem like a great guy, but the media's love for him has tainted my image of him. For the past 3/4 years I kind of sat around and said "Come on...Pat White's a good guy too, why do you give this guy more love then him?" Personally, with any national title hopes dashed this year, I would love to see my Mountaineers upset Florida. It probably would never happen for a multitude of reasons but I would be laughing so hard if Bill Stewart out coached Urban Meyer and Jarret Brown outplayed Tim Tebow.

Well, tonight's one of two games that will determine the stance of this season for my Mountaineers...and I get the feeling that I'm going to be very depressed at the end of it...of course, as long as we beat Pitt and Rutgers all will be forgiven...stupid Zach Collaras and our inability to defend against a quarterback in the similar mode of Pat White...

14-14 at halftime...wow, I really didn't expect this...so far Cincinnati has been sloppy and WVU has been playing the best they have so far this year. We'll see if this keeps up. I still think we haven't done enough on offense to take advantage of all these UC calls. Oh and that over rule that tied the game...yeah, the NCAA needs to nuke some of these replay refs for not following the rule for replays...

Man, the LSU-Miss game and the Ga-Ky game were good.

Now the Oregon-Arizona is a good one.

Oregon tied the game with 0:06 sec on the clock, making it 31 to 31.

Now they are going in the 2rd OT 38 all.

Edit:

Game over. Oregon win 44 to 41 over Arizona.

Now the PAC 10 title will go to the winner of the Civil War game, Oregon between the Oregon State next Thursday night.

Peanut's post Pitt beatdown extravaganza

Postby Peanut » Fri Nov 27, 2009 8:02 pm

WVU 19-Pitt 16! I have a lot to say...the vast majority of which would get me banned from CAA so, I'm cutting that stuff out.

1.This:

Peanut (post: 1356001) wrote:Edit: Yep, well, if we beat Pitt, all will be forgiven...

Seriously, I've never understood the anti-Coach Stew sentiment that some fans have. As someone who grow up with mediocrity, I can tell you that there was a time when WVU fans would have been thrilled to have had the seasons we've had over the past two years. We're looking at, once again, two straight 9 win seasons and the possibility of returning to a New Years bowl game if Cincinatti wins and we take care of buisness against Rutgers...and if the Gator Bowl decides to not be a bunch of jerks and choose a likely ranked WVU team over a 7-5, average, Notre Dame team...yeah guys. Not only that this is the first years since 1993 that we've gone 7-0 at home. He's got the best record in two years of any WVU coach throughout history and he's a great guy. Now that he's got that signature win, people need to lay off him.

2. After that last drive, Jarret Brown deserves a break as well. He's been less then stellar at points during this season but honestly, he's the only person who, when healthy, should be starting at quarterback for the Mountaineers this season. I say this because as good as Geno Smith may be...our Offensive Line has yet to put it together and Jarret Brown is a little better at shaking off would be sackers then Geno is...

3. Again, Gator Bowl, if we beat Rutgers and Pitt loses to Cincinnati you had better be calling us and not Notre Dame...unless of course you call us and Notre Dame. I would love to see my Mountaineers smack around the Golden Domers.

4. It's not the same magnitude as the 2007 game, but this is a pretty good bit of revenge from our side. We may end up with a better record then Pitt (its mathematically possible...), and we could have indirectly knocked Cincinnati out of the BCS title game. I would have preferred to have directly knocked them out of the title game, but apparently the refs in our game thought differently so...

5. WVU's basketball team also won today...so I'm doubly happy...

ESPN just put the story out on their website, but they reported that he was fired on College football live that just ended.

Also, Virginia fired Al Groh after nine seasons as football coach at his alma mater Sunday.
