While Disney's efforts at cell animation have been lacking over the past decade, they've actually done a very good job of getting their act together over the past five years to turn out an excellent product in other mediums such as live-action fantasy and computer generated animation. As a matter of fact, I am more excited about Disney's output now than I have ever been in my life, so I keep a close eye on it. Having again committed themselves to imaginative quality control, Disney has again realized that it is not their birthright to be the kings and queens of children's movies, but rather that they have to contend for their own status among increasingly savvy audiences. As such, this is a good time for company housecleaning and throwing out stale ideas that don't work anymore. In my judgment, then, this is the ideal moment for a return to quality in Disney's cell animation, so I wouldn't dismiss The Princess and the Frog just yet.ShiroiHikari (post: 1310554) wrote:On one hand, I'm happy to see Disney returning to 2D.
On the other hand, I'm still a huge skeptic. Who wouldn't be after the quality of their offerings over these past years?
At least the animation looks stunning.
