Cell phones and flash animations

Postby RidleyofZebes » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:57 am

Howdy, all.

Recently got myself a new phone. A Pantech c70 Matrix. It works great for browsing the internet, and that goes even better with the opers mini browser. I can even watch youtube and listen to music. In fact, i'm posting this thread with it!

Unfortunately I have found one shortcoming... I can't view flash animations with it. This renders albinoblacksheep and newgrounds nothing more than large pages of screencaps and thumbnails for me to drool over.

Now, i understand the technical specifications, but i still wonder... Has anyone found any program, applet or add-on that would make this possible?

Any help offered will be greatly appreciated. ^_^

I would be surprised if these existed. Flash is pretty processor intensive. Rendering even small flash applications can end up taking all the processor cycles, making the system very laggy.

I spent a few hours searchin a few months ago for my cellphone, never found one which is why I'd agree with Mith.

Like Mithrandir said, Flash is pretty mean to a lot of devices. The use of vectors and layers (totally irrelevant, yeah) aids to that. As most devices don't play Flash in general (I heard it's about some issues or something, at least what I have heard, where somebody could code a game in Flash and companies like Apple lose money, etc.) so your best bet is to check YouTube. More popular videos are uploaded there and some people also post their Flash videos there. There doesn't appear to be any solution to the situation in general though.

I agree with Bellum. Your best bet is youtube. Most of the stuff on there is pretty good so no worries. ^^

He is not temperamental, but he likes to pull pranks and grins when you fall into his traps. Usually, he styles a fedora and prances around on all fours, he's all black with a white belly.

Have you looked at Flash Lite on Adobe's site? I know I've had the same problems with Flash on my Nokia 6300 but if you download the latest version of Flash Lite it should (hopefully) sort out the problem. Other than that I'm not familiar with the make of phone you have, sorry.
