TBH, I used to have most of his solo albums. The only one I didn't have was Off the Wall.

Even though I wasn't too into his music, I always liked what I heard. He was really talented back in the day and this is just really weird and sudden.

I admit to owning a few of his albums, and Thriller is truly a unique musical experience.

In threes. Tuesday, Ed McMahon. Wednesday, Farah Fawcett. Today, Michael Jackson(???).

Of course, I predict another tomorrow, because Jacko isn't dead. He's hiding in his underground compound hoarding his rights to Beatle's music, chilling with Elvis.

It's hard to make sense of what went on in Michael Jackson's head towards the end of his life, but for a few very good years he was an incredible musician. There was no one like him and I doubt there will ever be again.

With the diversification of music within both the american and international scene, it's likely not. The time of the all encompassing, all loved musician has come to an end.

But back in the 80's, dang that guy was awesome!

Yeah...Its hard to think the he's actually dead. I mean, you have to remember that he's still human and as vulnerable as all of us are. I guess it was his time. RIP MJ.

I know...this news crushed me, because he was so great in the '80s and was planning a comeback. Plus, Fawcett and McMahon are very dear to my parents as well. You're right, what a week. :sniffle:

I have always been a huge fan of Michael Jackson ever since I was a little girl, so when I heard he passed away it was a pretty big blow to me. It's so tragic he had to die at such a young age, it really is. But on the bright side, he has left behind a legend for us to remember :D I can definitely say I will listen to his music until the day I die!
Rest in peace Michael Jackson, you'll always be the King of Pop!

I was fascinated with his music, dancing and videos when I was a little girl. I was shocked when I heard what happened. My sister called me and asked me did I hear about his death. I told her I haven't watched the news, so my uncle just heard about the cardiac arrest, but not his death. So, I stop what I was doing and went in a room and watched the news and heard that he died. It's really sad and sudden, especially leaving behind three of his kids. I can't believe it.

Yeah, for everything good and bad that he represented, it is hard to picture a world without MJ. Even if only as the butt of many jokes as he was mostly referred to nowadays, it was a point of reference, an anchor of reality. The voice of this little black kid singing cheerfuly "ABC123" in my computer sounds somewhat less fullfilling today.

I hate to be Mr. KillJoy but you've got to be kidding me.

It's starting to tick me off that kids all over facebook are mourning MJ like they knew him.

It's ridiculous how we've trashed on his life for the past two decades but then when he dies all of a sudden everyone loves him.

I'm not calling out anyone here, I'm just making a generalization.

I don't know about anybody else but I never talked trash about the guy. Honestly I always felt rather sorry for him. And there are plenty of people on the internet that are saying horrible things about him even though he just passed away, so if you want to see that just go read the comments on Yahoo Buzz or something.

Well, as has been mentioned before, not everyone has trashed on his life for the past two decades. A lot of people were his fans. Those people have a good reason to mourn his passing, especially if he was there favorite artist. Others who weren't fans probably relate to his family (including his kids) because they understand that death kind of sucks.

I told Michael Jackson jokes just like everyone else, but y'know, I always respected him as a musician. He did so much for music, he redefined music videos with Thriller, and perfected them with Smooth Criminal. His music was always amazing, even his later stuff that wasn't as good as his earlier stuff was still good.

And he was definitely one of the greatest musicians to live. I heard that his comeback tour was supposed to go to over 50 locations worldwide. When tickets went on sale, they sold out in a matter of HOURS. And prices on the tickets that hadn't even been created yet was over 600 dollars, and AFTER the tickets were created they were going for over 20,000 dollars.

Seriously, that's insane. He's going to be missed sorely, I know it's kind of stunning to me. I knew he wasn't really young, but he wasn't that old either.

Well, I managed to go 19 years without ever hearing a Michael Jackson song. Now that he is dead, though, I figured I would listen to one for kicks. I do not know what I was expecting, really, but the video for "Thriller" was unlike anything I was imagining.

MJ seriously broke out the dance moves with zombies? I still can hardly believe that the old Michael Jackson and the modern one were the same people.

I might have to revise my assessment of him. I mean, I hate pop music as a rule, and his court issues were not very pleasant, but still. Dancing with zombies is cool, especially if you are one of the first people to ever do it.

One of the saddest things in the music history.
What I find funny is that he predicted he was going to pass away similar to Elvis.

I grew out of Michael's music overtime, but I still respected him for a musician and everything he has done. And I still respect him. He was a great man.

When I was in my screaming terrible twos, apparently 'Thriller' was the only song that could get me to go to sleep. In that way, MJ was a part of my young, formative years, and no matter how many of the jokes I laughed at, he will be missed. Great music, yo. D:
