just in case

Postby Nightshade X » Wed Mar 24, 2004 8:52 am

 Ok, I need some prayer. There's this girl in my dance class who keeps flirting with me (totally open flirtation, if you know what I mean...). I think she may actually like me, but I am so stupid when it comes to matters of the heart to make an accurate judgment. I've decided to wait until she makes some kind of move, but in case she does, I need some prayer for strength in what I should do next. You know, to act using my head and not my hormones (I'm really attracted to her, by the way). To the best of my knowledge, I'm pretty sure she's not a Christian, so I guess the thing I need most is strength in my spirit to overcome my flesh. I don't want to put my vow to stay a virgin until I'm married at any more risk than I already have. :red:

I will pray for your strength, and for her's as well. If she does like you let her know that you are saving yourself for marriage. I really can't give you any practical advice, being celebate and all.

NightShade,
The fact that this is in the forefrunt of your mind give me great hope that you wouldnt do anything to violate your intentions of saving "that" unitll marriage. But you seam to be doing the right thing in waiting for her to "make some move", given there are many girls who like it when the man makes the first move, that are also many girls who are just very flirtatious in their interactions with the opposit sex.

Step back and look at it, does she act the same with other people as she does with you?

Also, is this some one that you are friends with? Or some one whome you have a casual relationship with? Do they even know you are a Christian?

There is no harm in getting to know some one better, with out dating them. Get comfortable with them and you might find out that they are not who you thought they were, or that they are so very much more.

Making the first move could be enviting them to hang out with you and some of your friends, or meeting them some place in a group. The point, not being alone, then you will still get to know them, but it wouldnt be a "date" of sorts.

Atleast then you will get an idea if they are even interested in getting to know you better, with out the aukwordness of just asking them out. I think growing a relationship from a great friendship has the greatest potential for a great harvest.

I will pray that things go well for you.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Thank you, all of you, for your replies and your prayers. I don't think anyone I've told really cared this much about it. I know for a fact at least one of my friends doesn't care if my (hypothetical) friend is a Christian or not, as long as I have a friend... doesn't seem to get it through his head that I'm just not as interested in dating as he is... or that a person's spiritual condition is the first thing I'm concerned about above all else...

Anyway, your responses will not go unappreciated. I promise. (^_^)

Ok, quick update. She told me a couple weeks ago that she recently broke up with her boyfriend. Old news, I know, but it's worth mentioning. Anyway, it's almost as though she keeps coming after me whenever we meet. It's weird, because now would be the "perfect" time for me to make something happen between us, but I'm ain't doing squat! This is totally uncharted territory for me. I have to say, though, that all of your prayers helped me out very much. I do feel a lot stronger than I used to be. However, I still need more. I'm still weak in this area of my life, so I'll still need more prayer. Still, thank you for your support. I pray God's blessings and favor over all of your lives. You all have my eternal gratitude. *draws a rapier and salutes*

...sorry, I'm still getting over watching Disney's The Three Musketeers.
