HSM is just the Grease of the 21st century.

Some kids like it though, so that's a plus, depending who you talk to, I suppose. XD Let them live in their little fantasy world beliving that high school is all singing and dancing. I mean, sure they'll be disappointed when they finally reach high school and find out it's nothing like that and want to sue Disney for shattering their dreams, but hey, at least they're happy for the time being, am I right?

Haha, I based my preconceptions of high school on Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yuugi, and Flame of Recca. Boy was I disappointed! What do you mean high schoolers don't have any time at all to play video games and watch television?! What do you mean high schoolers stay up til 2 AM doing homework?! Sailor Moon didn't do any schoolwork and instead saved innocent people before curfew!

Don't get me started on Ouran Koukou Host Club; that just shattered any and all of the sparse fond memories I had of high school. IT'S NOT FAIR...

Number one was alright.. I guess o.O My niece and nephew were big on it and every little cousin was. I was forced (ok, not really forced) to watch it with them O_____O

I'll admit, it was kinda fun singing along 8D

<- Is big on karaoke <33

If there's any chance of me watching HSM3, it'll be on tv and if there's nothing else on to watch o_o

Oh my lord.

The Agony Booth recap of the first HSM is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read, ever.

Anyway, all sarcasm aside, I don't hate HSM by itself. It's a bad movie, but hey, there are lots of bad movies. They don't all automatically deserve hatred. What really irritates me is, as others have said, the Spaceballs-esque merchandising.

I won't be seeing HSM3, but in all honesty, I wouldn't care at all if I had to. I'm sure it's ripe for a nice MST-ing.

I thought we're all in this together?

I think this new High School Musical installment is the start of something new and breaking free from the evil sequel. I'm sure it'll stick to the status quo in terms of getting all the kids dancing in there seats and singing along with Ashley and Vanessa. I mean just by the commercials alone showcasing flashy dance scenes, what's new in pre-teen couture, and nauseatingly (nasal) sweet singers it is what I've been looking for in the next HSM. I'm sure without a doubt HSM 3 will bop to the top of the box office charts. So, everyone get'cha head in the game and go see this film!

I'll actually be seeing this movie with my cousin who is turning 15 this weekend. So, if I'm not in a coma I'll give you guys and girls a review! ^__~

Did you just compare a disney made for TV movie to a classic movie/musical about dancing, car races, hot rods, smoking and music by the bee gees?

Okay . . .

Sure, HSM3 is coming out today . . .

But does the second sequel to a huge cultural phenomenon hold a candle to . . .

The Christian rip-off?

Please tell me that that is fake.

Edit:
Annnnd after researching through Family christian stores and IMDB... both the company and the films are legit. I... have probably not been so disappointed in 'christian media' in a long time. This is lame. The poster/ cover art is a DIRECT rip of the HSM one. The music they used sounded awful except when the single actors were singing ( and who knows if thats actually what they sound like) and the premise seems... wow. I say kill it with fire.

What I meant was that it's pretty similar to Grease when you think of it. Both were musicals that took place in high schools.

I was CERTAIN it was a College Humor (or whatever that website is called) parody . . . and then it smacks you in the face. No. It's not.

Not all Christian media is bad and not all Christian media is just plagiarized regurgitation with Bible verses thrown in . . .

This?

Takes the cake, no?
