The most despicable villain in anime

Postby rocklobster » Sun Oct 19, 2008 5:01 am

With Halloween approaching us, I feel this is excellent time to talk about our favorite villains. Which ones do you think are the most despicable of all time? Here are my votes:
Morgana (.hack//sign)--Sometimes, what you don't know can be deadly!
Light Yagami (Death Note)--he represents the evil within us all.
Lelouch (Code Geass)--he plans things so far in advance, it's crazy!
Naraku (Inuyasha)--This guy makes things sooo personal.
Genoza (Silent Mobius)--Another guy who'll make things personal
Vicious (Cowboy Bebop)--the name says it all.
Sosuke Aizen (Bleach)--he's a villain? But he's so nice-looking!
Orochimaru (Naruto)--feel that chill? That's evil! I mean, he/she even looks evil!
Tetsuo (Akira)--Don't ever make this kid mad!
Legato Bluesummers (Trigun)--he doesn't have to actually get his hands dirty. he can actually make you kill yourself. That's just scary!
Knives Millions (Trigun)--Knives is just in it to make Vash miserable
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."

My vote goes to Yagami Light from Death Note. By the end of the series I wanted to kill him myself.

Also, I personally wouldn't count Lelouch from Code Geass as being a villain. Especially after seeing the series in full. I'm actually curious why you listed him as such.

EDIT: Just noticed that we're listing our OWN considerations for most despicable villain. I thought we were choosing from those already listed >_>. Ahh well.

Man, that beats any villain I could come up with.

Except "Friend." If you don't know who "Friend" is, go find out yourself; but "Friend" isn't really despicable. He's just. . ."Friend."

Well, this one's in the forefront of my mind since I just watched it, but Vincent from the Bebop movie is pretty dang intense. XD Also, Johan Liebert from Monster, slightly mixed with Roberto from the same series. And I would definitely list Friend, because he's a lying politician that wants to destroy the human race. XD So I'd definitely call him despicable. XD

Knives and Legato make a rather nasty pair of villains in Trigun.

Yagami Light for sure.
Also "Jack the Ripper" from Kuroshitsuji - dang scary and yet so awesome. (You'll have to read the manga - I don't wanna spoil anything)
I also vote for the Homunculi from FMA, along with either Dante or Father (depending on whether you go for the anime or for the manga).
And Darcia from Wolf's Rain.

These have already been mentioned, so I second Aizen, Light and Johan Liebert. 20th Century Boys is on my list to read when I'm done with Monster, that is where Friend is from, correct?

Ash Ketchum/Satoshi, from Pokémon. He just goes around imprisoning creatures in tiny plastic balls.

To answer the question seriously, I think Johann Liebert is probably the most villainous villain out there. Don't know if I'd call him despicable though; I sort of feel a bit of empathy for the guy, since he's kind of a product of other people's evil? But yeah, I check below my bed for Johann.

Most of the villains in Berserk. Actually, most everybody in Berserk when you think about it. Griffith is the popular answer (and the only Bishounen character I can stand, interestingly enough), but my personal favorite is Emperor Ganishka who is kind of a BAD END MacBeth with an awesome beard.

Also, Shira from Blade of the Immortal, because that dude just won't quit. Special mention to the Yagyu Clan from Lone Wolf and Cub.

That's just "Despicable" villains. I enjoy a lot of Not Really Despicable and Only Kinda Sorta Ruthless villains too.

"Friend can.. FLOAT!!!"

Lucy, from Elfen Lied, but is she really the villain? That's questionable, but the way she'll walk by and then people go splat ~(O_O)~

I agree with this. I put Vincent over Vicious in Cowboy Bebop.

But my all time fav are in this order.

Ladd Russo and Claire (Baccano!)

Claire Stanfield (Vino/Rail Tracer) (Baccano!)

Vincent (Cowboy Bebop)

Szilard Quates (Baccano!)

Vicious (Cowboy Bebop)

Shishio Makoto (Rurouni Kenshin)

I keep hearing Baccano mentioned a LOT since signing up here (Had never heard of it prior, actually). Would it be worth checking out? How would you rate it?

EDIT: And to remain on topic, I was going to mention the main villain from Macross Frontier, but uh... that would be spoiling some of the plot :(. The people that have watched it know what I'm talking about.

AmazingAmazingAmazing but very violent. XD If you can't handle gratuitous amounts of blood and some gore, then I can't recommend Baccano very easily. XD However, if you don't mind the violence, the series is absolutely wonderful and one of my very favorites. XD

Gratuitous amounts of blood and gore you say? Sounds... FANTASTIC! (Just kidding, just kidding, I'm not quite that morbid).

It is hard to argue when it's getting such rave reviews though (Three "Amazing"s? Heck, I would've settled for two). I'll definitely give it a look :).

What IS up with CAA, and why is everyone's taste <s>better</s>different than the rest of the internet? Baccano, Monster, and 20th Century Boys, gee.

Ladd Russo pisses me off far more than Szilard does. Szilard sucks and he's very old, but he doesn't keep me up at night out of fear.

But Isaac and Miria are far, far, far more frightening than Ladd XD
