Shark Week

Postby Felix » Mon Jul 28, 2008 10:46 pm

That's right, folks, it's everyone's favorite time of year again. No, it's not Mexican New Year, sillies. It's... dun dun dun... Shark Week on Discovery Channel! I personally, being rather fascinated with all things sharks, am a huge shark week fan. Tragically, due to my work schedule I've had to miss a good portion of the shark festivities thus far.

So, who among you either loves, is excited for the rest of, happens to sometimes watch while channelsurfing, or just downright doesn't like shark week? Do discuss. And this will also be the place to share and exchange various shark facts, notions, and/or ideas. Or whatever. Just talk about sharks, and enjoy the shark week love.

Cuz I do.

I just don't understand the fascination with SHARKS. I mean..big whup their some crazy carnivorous FISH.

I'd rather see something like... Platupi Week, or Kangaroo week, or FOX WEEK! YAH.. FOX WEEK would be AWESOME! (no, I'm not biased AT ALL) [/sarcasm]

I love the Discovery Channel and all..but...seriously I'd rather watch the normal programming than a bunch of shows about sharks. I hate sharks. They've done Shark week how many years now? How much "new" information can they possibly have to tell us about sharks.

Furthermore. are any of the shows repeats from previous years?

And since when did Discovery channel become the Animal Planet? O_o

Rant end. ^_^; sorry. I'll probably watch the stuff...but I look forward to Sharkweek ending.

Shark Week is the only reason I watch the Discovery Channel! I watch more Discovery Channel during Shark Week than I watch during the non-Shark Week part of the previous five years combined!
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

Wait, are you saying "crazy carnivorous fish" like it's a bad thing? That's like saying lions aren't cool because they're just a crazy carnivorous cat! Being crazy and carnivorous is enough to make any animal awesome :D And sharks aren't just crazy and carnivorous, they're also skilled, smart, fearsome predators with an amazing array of senses and abilities that help them catch their prey.
And I wouldn't mind having weeks devoted to other animals. I'm not sure how many different shows they could come up with for a fox though.

There's new information about sharks all the time! And I"m not sure we even fully understand them yet. That's part of why shark week is always so fascinating! And there's also shows like the mythbuster special where they test out various myths about sharks.

And as far as I know there aren't any repeats.

Since never, as far as my knowledge goes. Sure, they have a week devoted to sharks, but during their normal program the majority of the shows don't have much to do with animals. There's mythbusters, dirty jobs, smash lab, cash cab, storm chasers, nextworld, and the list goes on.

No problem =] You're entitled to your opinion too and no one said you have to like shark week.

Yah, I was mostly joking about Fox Week XD. But wouldn't it be cool to have a Plautpi week?

Sharks just aren't my favorite animal... and I think watching programs of them are boring. I'd RATHER watch the regular mythbusters, dirty jobs, smash lap, cash cab, storm chasers and Next world, and the list goes on. :P

Because the Mythbusters shark special was like reruns of sharky mythbustings. :/ nothing really new.
