For me, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Saw movies.

TCM cause it was just a sick sick sick moive made by ppl with very sick minds. i couldnt finish it (the new one, never saw the old one)

and Saw, IMO, are fantastic movies, i just squirm when it comes to gore. But the saw movies are very well done, so i enjoyed them, but this still are disturbing.

Same here... I thought it was horrible.

Do Epic Movie and Date Movie count? They are... a whole different type of disturbing. I was pretty disgusted... I watched them because a friend wanted to. I had to leave the room for them both.

I thought Battle Royale was disturbing also... all I can think of at the moment.

Oh definetly! If I haven't listed that already, may I add that one to the list.

Another disturbing movie I saw was today called 'Vacancy' on the Stars channel. It was so disturbing I'm afraid to even describe what it's about XD. It was really good though and it stared Kate Beckinsale and Luc Wilson.

The animation in Akira was of a very high-quality but the story and characters were confusing and didn't work (apparently the manga is paced much better and much more complex).

Just watched Hellraiser last night. Wow. It's about as over-the-top as the Evil Dead movies (okay, well almost as much), but without the focus on humor.

I thought Akira was needlessly disturbing, but not in a good way. o.o; Some movies disturb you but somehow it's in a good way. Akira didn't. It was just strange.

I STILL have fears relating to mirrors/tvs/the dark/the floor because of The Ring and The Grudge. Those ghosts scared the living daylights out of me.

And yet somehow I like both? XD The Grudge doesn't really bug me out anymore, but the Ring still does. Every time I go to watch, I say, "Okay, maybe I should watch Aladdin instead!"

The Ju-on movies are pretty creepy too.

Silent Hill just struck me as being interesting. If you look up the Wiki, you find out that each of the monsters represents a torment in their creator's life. Pretty different.

War of the Worlds was so realistic it was freakish. I was horrified and awed at the same time.

Scream, despite being kind of old, scares me because I think, "What if someone close to ME did that? I'd be doomed."

Mmmmm... I stay away from movies like Saw and Hostel because I know I'll be scared for life. XD

Can't think of any more...

You know? Just about any movie by Quentin Tarantino. Like... mutilating the human body for the fun of it. >_<

Sure, Saving Privet Ryan had more violence and gore than Death Proof, I'm sure, but it's... different...

You can't really do a war story without some amount of violence, though, Shao. War, by definition itself, is violent. (and, of course, raw and hell.)

For me, the most disturbing movie I have seen is also my favorite movie; Nosferatu The Vampyre directed by Werner Herzog. It has the most powerful and haunting symbolism out of any vampire movie I have ever seen, and it stays with you for a long time. The worst nightmare I have ever had actually drew from its scene with the plague rats. I dreamed I was responsible for caring for young children, and two quick rats invaded the room they were playing. One rat was caught by a cat and I was forced to watch it be dismembered before my eyes. The other proved more difficult to catch and a chased it into a hallway for a fruitless game of cat and mouse. It was then that I realized in horror that it was inflected with the plague and that all the children would die. I thought the movie poster for Nosferatu The Vampyre really represented the movie well so I'm going to post it here.

Is that the early 1920's Nosferatu? I'll have to check it out.
Did you know he was the main inspirtation behind the character of Sylar in Heroes?

Not quite, this is an excellent remake made in 1978 by Werner Herzog, which can be purchased here. Even so, the 1921 film Nosferatu directed by F.W. Marnau is also one of my favorites. The original Nosferatu has long since entered the public domain and can be watched for free at Archive.org. Even so, a number of good copies are available for inexpensive purchase. My personal favorite is a version of the film put out by the Gothic record label Cleopatra Records that removes the original score and replaces it with an eerie Dark Ambient score. This version is available as a third disc in their compilation album Gothik, which can be purchased here. Otherwise, I would suggest getting it with the brilliant and inexpensive Horror Classics 50 Movie Pack Collection, which can be purchased here.

Oh, and by the way, I haven't heard of Sylar from Heroes yet. Although I've noticed in the cinema that Nosferatu has a funny way of showing up where you least expect him. The design of Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies comes to mind, for example.

Ooh ok yeah planet terror was way worse it was so violent. Boils on tongue ...poked.......proded........*pukes* it was graphic and well a typical over the top zombie movie. Don't get me wrong i love zombie movies but there was to much in that one. Dawn of the Dead was so much better.

Now that is a real horror movie! No movies about aliens, zombies, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, monsters, or serial killers can hold a candle to that brand of macabre terror.

Yeah, that was a good one. Oddy enough, Stephen King hated it so much he practically disowned the title.

Yes, it's pretty nuts. It made me scared of refrigerators for days. Though what really disturbed me was Keith David's performance. He's usually that calm voiceover on history documentaries.

But yeah, explicit drug and some sex content, viewer beware. Good cautionary tale, though.

I'd say that possibly the most disturbing movie I've seen is "Funny Games". The remake of it just came out a few weeks ago, and I saw it with my mom. The plot is that these two preppy looking guys show up at the home of this family and then take them hostage, torturing them mentally and physically with a variety of "games". Its extremely grueling and intense, even though they don't actually show much violence. Its a film specificly designed to torture the audience and crush their hopes and expectations about how a film like this is "supposed" to work. Its also, IMO, aggravatingly pretentious and loses itself in its attempt to insult the audience thats watching.

I don't really find a lot of movies disturbing. I'm the weirdo rolling on the floor laughing while one of the Saw movies is playing. IMO Freddy vs Jason is UBER funny. The Friday the 13th's and the Halloween movies are just super funny. Oh, and Carrie is pretty amazing. Anyone seen The Rage, Carrie 2? It's just a modern sequel, and I thought it was pretty cool the first time I saw it, lol. Oh, and I can't forget Battle Royale, or Battle Royale 2 [which I LOVE, btw]. Definitly like the sequel more. *sigh* Anyway.

I have been weird since childhood, mostly because Disney movies SCARED me BAD. Like...Thumbelina. That movie scared me so bad when was little. I could watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, but turn on Thumbelina and I would run screaming from the room at age 6. Lol. <3

Thumbelina wasn't Disney :D There was one part that disturbed me about it, though--there's one part around the end where it looks like the beetle character gets his head cut off. I could never tell what happened O_o
