Breaking through an iron heart

Postby Pepper Kittie » Wed Mar 24, 2004 9:49 pm

Umm... I feel so wierd asking for prayer from people I barely know, but... I really need it. And maybe even advice. Or both.

I have this part of my nature that cries out when I see people by themselves... I hate seeing people alone. At school there's this girl that I saw sitting alone every day, so I started going out of my way to spend time with her. I know what it feels like to be without a friend and I know that God was leading me to try to witness to her. As I got to know her though... she's very shy and doesn't speak her mind very often, but her values are totally opposite of mine and spending time with her is totally degrading. She's a firm athiest that can't stand hearing anything about Christianity, and being around her has made me very self-concious about what I say and do... almost afraid to talk as openly about Christ as I used to. I can tell she's in pain when she's alone, and I know that it's God that's pushing me to witness to her, but it almost feels like it's possible to reach her. I can't even seem to get away from her because this year I have almost no classes with my friends and almost every class with her 0_o Please, could you pray that something changes within her, or that somehow I would have the courage to rely on God for strength? Thank you all so much if you could...

throughout my time in highschool, there were always people who were alone, abandoned, shunned by society, (I'm as much guilty as anyone else of pushing people away)
The thing is, Jesus said there would always be poor people. it was a way of saying "stick with it, cuz your jobs not gonna end until I come again"
People who are poor in spirit, they need constant care and affection,
patience, your foundation for witnessing to her, it takes time
just stick with it

Don,t give up PK, wot ur doing is awesome, no matter how much it seems that wot you say or do is having no affect, it REALLY is!!! God is using you in this girl's life :)

Matthew 17:20
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

With God all things are possible.....thats something i remind myself of all the time, no matter how hopeless something seems, with God it IS possible!!!!
Jeremiah 29:11, TLB. "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

I asked Jesus how much he loved me and he said this much...and he stretched out his hands and died for me.

I will pray for you and for her. :)

There were some people that were shunned in my high school, and interestingly enough they were also atheists. Perhaps they are angry at being abandoned by the world, making them reject God. It is also possible that their parents are atheists. Either way, they are probably going to have to intellectual objections to Christianity. For this reason, I would encourage you to study apologetics so that you will be able to answer these questions when and if they are raised.

I will pray for both of you, Pepper Kittie. God has put the desire in your heart to approach and witness to this young lady, and I know He will provide you with the tools to do His will. I'm thinking of passages I read in John just this morning, about how some Christians will sow while others will reap but we will all rejoice in the harvest together. Your part in all this may not be to cause her conversion, but to keep planting the seeds of faith--eventually another may actually "bring in the crop", but you will still be able to rejoice in it. God has a different part for each of us to play, but I know that if He led you to this person and you have prayed about it, He definitely has a part for you to play in her life.

Do you think this girl would be willing to go with you to a youth function at church? It might allow her to feel more included, in the right group of friends, as well as exposing her to more of God's Word.

You guys are so amazing... *is speachless* It gives me a lot of hope to know that others are there to pray and help... thank you...

Spiritsword: I never looked at it in that perspective... I've been tempted to give up on her recently because nothing seems to be changing. Thank you so much! And yes, her parents are firm athiest too... I've invited her to a lot of church thinigs, but even if she was interested her parents wouldn't let her. They get mad at her for the fact that she's friends with a Christian in the first place...

and CBwing0: I'll try to study a bit about it... maybe it would help to see where she's coming from. I really don't have the slightest idea. She won't talk about religion at all.
