what IS that file?

I'm doing a huge mp3/iPod project at the moment, that required me to redownload Limewire. I remember back in the day, they would have these small files that were everywhere, titled as random things you may search up such as, "pokemon simpsons south park etc etc etc". NOW these files are EVERYWHERE and titled as the song you are looking up. If I search up 'Just Communication - TWO-MIX', a file (several, in fact) will come up with the EXACT same thing I typed in. What is this file? Well, I had forgotten about it and it's something about Bill Clinton making a speach, sounds like a spoof or something :/

My question though, is what exactly is it? P2P I try and avoid due to it spreading lots of spyware etc, but I wonder what that file is? I accidentally downloaded it, thinking it was the file I was looking for, judging by the title. But it seems to have some program on it to show up with ANY search you type in. There's a few other files like that titled 'top of charts 200x' and other odds and ends.

Just curious as to what these are. After my project is finished, I'll be deleting Limewire again and doing a nice virus/spyware check. Anyone know, or know the types of files I'm talking about?

As far as I know, those are just bad files that the RIAA and MPAA try to flood the P2P networks with.

*Just a note about Limewire don't download the .exe files!!! viruses looove those ones... and our comp had a grrrreaaat time deleting those, even with virus protection* just thought u'd like to know ^^

Yeah, I know to be weary ones those kinds :/ I'm just strictly working on mp3s for this project, sooo won't have to worry about those^^

Most of the "classic" p2p networks are flooded with bad files these days. They may be something completely different, but there are also versions out there with real songs, but with car horns and stuff inserted at intervals.

Even with MP3s, it might be a good idea to scan each file after you download it.

Agreed i hate limewire for that reason you either get like the exact file you searched for , alot of them too or none at all sometimes.

I remember a time where I could find pretty much anything I wanted fairly easily on it... My issue right now, is that it involves JPOP so some of the stuff is REALLY hard to find. Even if you look up the CDs online there come up with an 'out of stock' notice, because they're old imports.

Once again, these songs are pretty hard to find and I don't even know what album some are from. Or else yeah, I would so be there. The one site I DO know of that has tons of music torrents, even that doesn't have what I want :/

Finding tracks from the TWO-MIX international CD are super hard :/ This one song is really good but if I EVER find that again, I'll be super lucky (found it by chance the first time, really).

Also REAL fun when you do a BT search for 'two-mix' and you get about 1000 links to titles that just have the word 'two' in it :/ Bah.
