I know some people here dig Skillet so here's a thread for them.

Most of their albums have a different sound.
Their self-titled has a grungey yet soft rock feel to it.
Alien Youth has a cool Industrial sound.
Collide has an Alt. Metal thing going for it and Comatose has an epic rock feel to it.

What I don't understand is why people call Collide their best work and diss Comatose. Maybe it was over-produced, but I find Comatose to be an excellent album.
Collide to me sounds like a generic hard rock album.

Sure, I love both, but I don't understand why Collide is hailed amongst the Panheads on this site.

Skillet ranks along with some of my most played... personally I love to hear them live, and I prefer to hear them that way, rather than the CDs, unless it is the new one... I do love the new CD. The one before that was good, but I liked those songs better live. I have all their old CDs, but I don't really listen to them much... neat to put in once in a while, but otherwise, I mainly like their newest effort. The songwriting and music is the best... Collide had a few good ones, but some of the songs sounded too alike to me. They are awesome people to meet though! Hilarious to talk with, especially Ben and Lori. Lori is awesome.

Skillet was one of the first bands that got me into the whole Christian rock scene (if u wanna call it that), with their album Collide...I listened to their other stuff and I like them all very well, yet I was hoping they'd go more towards adding more keyboard string synths to their sound (the synth/keyboard musician in me I guess), so I rejoyaced loudly when they came out with Camatose.

Its funny, becuase before that album, I'd play Collide around my friends, and let's just say it was too hard for most (if not all) of them. Then I had them listen to Comatose, and just about all of them have changed their minds...

Alien Youth, Rebirthing, and Yours to Hold are my favourites of all their stuff...

I think fans don't like Comatose much because of the few power ballads inserted. Frankly, I don't care. I prefer Comatose way over Collide because of the melodies, Korey's voice is back in a lot of the songs, and the string accompaniments are so much richer than in Comatose. If you don't believe me, listen to "Rebirthing" again.

But don't get me wrong. I still enjoy several songs from Collide.

My favorite is Collide followed very closely by Alien Youth and Invincible. I didn't really like Comotose much at all because to me it sounds overproduced and seems to lack their uniqueness. It feels to forced to me. I like Collide the most because it has some of the best songwriting and John has a great "hard" voice.

Collide to me is by far their most generic album.
The song of the same name of that CD could easily be passed as a Linkin Park song.
"Saviour" sounds like a Trapt sound.

I mean, I like Collide, but I fail to see why people find it so amazing.

I actually made a poll with all their CDs but it didn't show.

Anyways, the only thing I haven't heard from them is "Ardent Worship."

Collide is my favorite album. Comatose has most of my absolute favorite Skillet songs. Collide is just all around cool. Comatose has some of the best songs I have ever heard: "Rebirthing", "Whispers in the Dark", etc. as well as some of the worst: "Those Nights", "The Older I Get", etc. All in all, every song on Collide was cool. Comatose had some mediocre songs, as well as some insanely awesome songs.

The funny thing is that I have the same complaints Tom. Except they're about Comatose and not Collide. Alien Youth has some of their best songs as well....

You're right.
"Rebirthing" and "Comatose" have nearly identical choruses.

I still have to hear Alien Youth.

Also, has anyone here heard Ardent Worship?

Yeah.....I've heard it.....
Pretty amazing stuff...If you're ever in a "worshipful mood" Ardent Worship is very good......they play a mix of worship songs as well as some of their older songs.....all in all, very good.......

I've heard Alien Youth, not just in it's entirety.
From what I heard, it was pretty sweet.

I would like to hear that worship album, but the only time I found a copy was at a merch tent, and I bought another CD instead.

I honestly don't know where you'd find the worship album besides maybe having a store order if for you. Actaully have you checked their website or itunes?

As far as Alien Youth goes. It's about as hard as Comatose but more energetic and small packed venue feel as opposed to the staduim rock feel of Comatose.

I like the Stadium Rock feel alot, but the sound of Alien Youth still owns.
I will be buying Alien Youth.

Skillet has been one of my long-time favorite bands. I have gotten to see them at least five or six times. ^__^

I just borrowed the self-titled, Hey You, I love your Soul, and Comatose from my friend.
I'm digging them all at marveling at their change in style as each album progresses.

Don't worry, we won't be getting another Comatose.
Skillet never does the same thing twice (album-wise).
