Cleaning built-in laptop speakers

Postby Puguni » Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:12 pm

I'm tired of seeing little specks in my speaker holes and I've tried to dig them out with a needle, but the needle is too big. Should I get a smaller needle or what?

All macs should be thrown in to one large pile and set on fire.

Aside from that, try some canned air.

This isn't the place to do it, so don't.

Canned air seems too much of an effort for a few specks though. D: Maybe I can borrow some from my dad.

Saj, I am not really a mac supporter, *Been useing windows since 98* but bashing the macbook or the new Imac is not really smart looking at two factors, overall nice performance for the money and the users seem to like them as well. *And bootcamp if you like windows as well.*

As for the topic at hand, I got relatively little experience with laptop speaker holes, so there is not really much I can say. ^^;;

Using a Vacuum cleaner might also helps clean the built-in laptop speakers and you just need to be careful not to sucks in the important parts.

Also not to get the vacuum to close XD

Don't want the EMI to wipe the HDD XD

I wouldn't worry about that.

Tape would seem to be the best answer to me. It may not get it all, but it is the least intrusive. Canned air would seem to push the dust bacl into your speakers, which, I think, would be less productive. The Vacuum should work well if you have a handy brush attachment.

After looking at my buddies mac book, tape actually looks like a decent idea to clean the speakers.

Not wise dude, You'll just start an argument.

I was mostly joking about the EMI XD I know most modern PCs would not be effected by a vacuum cleaner, and if they where you probably have a problem.

thats the point. i love arguing over pointless things like mac vs pc... or spork vs fork vs spoon. its fun.

just with macs vs pc, ppl are so passionate about its ridiculous to me. and i enjoy poking at it just to see ppl all fired up.

Which is mighty unfortunate at thread like this. Posting provocative material is highly likely to result with a privat chat with one of the staffers.... or a strike. This thread is not meant for posting provocative comments, its simply a person asking for some technical assistance. A mac vs pc vs linux thread would also have been locked the second a mod noticed it, because it is likely to result in uncomfortable situations which the mod's don't really like to clean up. Even if it was unintentional, which in this case, I highly doubt it was. Like I would not be happy if you made fun of my custom and stationary pc. Much the same if I owned a mac which I enjoyed.

Either way, please do not repeat a similar type of post. Its not funny or enjoyable for the mainstreem of the CAA users.

Going back on topic...

The specks are too deep in to get them with tape; I have a vacuum...that wouldn't really harm my laptop, would it? ._.

Ill stop.

and no, just use a brush end. a brush end will work fine. if you can get a weaker vacum, youll be fine.

Thanks Saj :)

The vaccum 'might' harm your laptop I would think. Brushes might be for the better I think. Either way, sounds like a tricky situation to me.
