Shadow Dwellers

Postby silver_wolf454 » Fri May 25, 2007 4:01 pm

We all have problems here..that's why we're family.. The Shady Grove Home for Troubled Teens has a secret..the teens are more than just troubled they are completly unatural. Some of which are down right scary. From the sightly troubling children who say they hear voices to the completly horrifying boy who can bring his shadow to life. Trouble is they don't know why...trouble is they don't want to stay...trouble is....nobody knows they exsist.

In this word there are teens who are "Troubled" They are born with darkness in their bodys. Of couse the 'normal' people fear this darkness and so they try to hide it by locking them all in this house. They say it's a nice place but it's more like a prision.

Oooh... dark creepy teenage people! Agggh... okay I'm in.

Image

Name: Annelai Dusk

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Power: The ability to telepathically know one's greatest terror just by looking at them, and shapeshift into that exact thing. When she was younger, she had trouble controlling these powers, but now has a pretty good level of control over them.

Eye color: Light blue

Hair color/discription: Short and raven black

Build of the body: Short and slim

Extra info: Annelai has been on her own for as long as she can remember, and doesn't take to others well. She can be rather cold and standoffish at times. She grew up as a pick pocket, until she found herself in the house for "troubled" teens and amongst others who share similar gifts... or curses.

(This is my first time ever to enter an RPG character, so I apologize if I screw anything up!)

Name: Tal

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Power: Can blot out any light source and make it dark, but he doesn't turn it off, he just blots it out (i.e. if he blots out a lightbulb, the electricity still flows to it, but it can't produce light.) He isn't powerful enough to blot out the sun, though.

Eye color: Brown

Hair color/desciption: Light brown, short and a bit ruffled (he hates combs)

Build of body: Average height and weight, not frail

Extra info: He's cheery and good-natured, and most of the time keeps his temper in check, because when he gets really upset or angry his powers can go out of whack. Otherwise he has good control over his powers. Surprisingly he prefers light to darkness. Has been secretly testing the limits of his abilities and so far has found none.

(Well, there's my guy. Is it all right if I make another character? I know you said we could have two, but I'm not sure if you want to just stop now. Please tell me if I accidentally copied anyone else's powers!)

I guess it's time I did this

Name: Kadin

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Power: Open a "pocket" in shadows to stash things and people and summon a type of guardian in the shape of four foot, bipedal cat with wicked recurved horns

Eye color: Bright, almost neon blue

Hair color/discription: Super bright blonde and straight as a stick

Build of the body: Tall with stringy muscles but looks very fragile, almost like porceline.

Extra info: Kadin pretty much demands to have a steady supply of books or she'll throw the helpers inside their shadows for a few hours.

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

Alirght, I'm making my second character. If we're already over the limit, I apologize, and you can cut her out of the story. Otherwise, Tal just got a twin sister.

Name: Natalie (Nat for short)

Gender: Female

Age: 14

Power: She can send out her shadow to control anything living that isn't human. (So she can control plants and fungi, along with animals.) She cannot control microscopic creatures, like bacteria. Note that if she doesn't concentrate on the connection, anything she is controlling dies.

Eye color: Dark green

Hair color/description: Black, short (for a girl), and ruffled (like Tal, she hates combs)

Build of body: Similar to Tal, only slightly shorter

Backstory: Natalie is Tal's twin sister. When they were babies their parents died and they were seperated; Tal ended up with foster parents, Natalie went to an orphanage. Incidents involving her powers led her to be feared and rejected by normal people. She later met up with Tal, whose foster parents had died from illness. The two went to the troubled teens home because it was the only place that would take them in.

Extra Info: Unlike her brother, she is moody and reclusive, mostly due to her childhood. She doesn't like Tal's lightheartedness. Like Tal, getting upset or angry can cause her powers to go out of whack, which is bad because this can easily kill anything she accidentally controls. She secretly wishes that her powers allowed her to control humans, though besides this restriction, her powers have few limits. She can control more than one living thing at once, though this strains her immensely.

(There's Natalie. Sorry that her powers are similar to other characters' abilities; I tried to make them a bit more unique. Hope this RPG gets started soon!)

Yay! I hope this RPG goes well. If you don't mind, silver wolf, I had some questions about the Shady Grove house and the teens. I hope you can answer them.

1. How big is the house? Is it a mansion?

2. What kind of staff work at the house? Do they also have powers? Are they mean or nice?

3. Do the teens want to get out of Shady Grove, or are they happy that they're somewhere that accepts them? (I have it that Tal and Natalie are glad to be there, but I can change that if you want.)

4. Does the house's founder still run the house? If not, who's in charge?

5. Can someone who's cheerful count as a troubled teen? (I think Tal may be a bit nice.)

6. Are any of the troubled teens Christians? (They don't have to be, I'm just curious.)

7. Do the teens go to school, or do they take classes at Shady Grove?

8. Are the teens allowed to go outside of the house?

9. Do people know the teens exist? (In the first post you say that nobody knows they exist, but then you say that "normal" people put the teens in the home in the first place.)

10. Is the RPG humorous at all? Specifically, would it be wrong to use humor when controlling my characters?

Sorry for all these questions; I've been wondering about this stuff. I would be very grateful if you could answer these questions. Anyway, I'm really excited about this RPG, and hope that it gets started soon!

(Please clarify if any question has been answered in a previous post.)

OK, this RPG is approved!

By the way, for those of you who were wondering about the similarities between one of the characters in this RP and the creature in Harry Potter-- that character's powers are very similar to that of a "boggart" in Harry Potter, which is a creature that hides in concealed places like closets and wardrobes. When it is discovered, it immediately assumes the form of whatever the person who discovered it fears the most.

>.> <.<

Sorry, I'm an HP nerd! :sweat:
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Yay! We're approved!

Though this means we have 13 main characters. 13... Not the best number... which is, of course, 23.

Not that I'm asking for 23 characters. That would be too many. ;)

Anyway, I wonder if silver wolf knows? I would like her to answer my questions... please. See I'm nice I said please.

All this RPG needs is an awesome, riveting musical score... Maybe I should compose one. :) Not that it would matter since it's just a written RPG, but still, it would be kewl. Not cool. KEWL.

Anyway, happy roleplaying!

Wow....alot of questions there Frodo..........*Cracks fingers*

1.)The house is huge. There are many rooms the kids have not, will not, or are not allowed to even look into.

2.) The staff are a bit strange. (I will play all the house staff) They are a mix of mean, nice, and crazy people.

3.) Most of them hate the house. It was ment to be that normal people forced them into the home to keep their world free of shadows.

4)The founder.......no one but the founder knows where he is. Somwhere deep in side the house.

5) I suppose so ^^

6) I normaly never mix the two. But I might have a charactor pray before a meal or ask God to help them, but I never have any open statments of christianity. That doesn't mean you can't ^^

7) No school. ^o^

8) No, the teens are not alowed outside.

9.) The vast majority of the world does not know they exsist. Only the realy old people lol

10. ) Sure, I love the funny stuff go ahead ^^

Sure you can join the more the merryer ^o^

Would it still be okay for Lux to have a parent in the staff? I don't care what they're like really, just thought it would be interesting. ^_^

I wil fix my character sheet to fit that. *dances*

Here's the fixed version...so far

Name: Lux

Gender: Female

Age: 17.5

Power: Can literally touch and grab darkness like its matter and can pull and mold the shadows (or anything else that’s made of…dark XD; ). She can also make said darkness hard, liquid-y, soft, gas-like, etc…anything and can make it move/float.

Eye color: Pale yellow

Hair color/description: Bright white, never appears to be any other color. Her hair is straight, parted to one side, and reaches all the way down to her behind.

Build of body: Thin, but not like a stick. Tall, 5’9

Backstory: I would like her to be a daughter of someone who is a staff member in the house. (Is this okay?) So she would maybe get once a week visits from the parent.

Lux has always been at the house and she is surprisingly…sane, competent, and mature for being stuck there all her life.

Extra Info: Commonly wears skirts of any color or length and a long, white, long-sleeved, shirt. She is also friends with C-friend’s character Nielaro. To Lux, her friendship with Niel would be the only thing she likes about life in the house. So far, he is the only one she can really have literal and real fun with.

O.O;; Argggh!! I swear I've never read an HP book or watched the movies in my life! If this gets out I'll never be able to call myself a self-respectig C.S. freak again! Darn those annoying little wizard kids... >.>;; Ah well.
