Animaniacs, anyone?

Postby Animus Seed » Sun Mar 04, 2007 10:53 pm

I just got the DVD of the first season. Some observations:

1) The show is a lot more educational than I remembered;

2) When I watched this show, I was about 12, and my brother and sister were both very young. Now watching it and we're all older, it's very disturbing to realize that Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are all very much like us, both individually and the way they relate to each other.

Heh. I've picked up season 1 of Pinky and the Brain, and all its secret adult humor.

Oh man, I can barely think of a better part of my childhood. My brother, sister, and I were all enthralled with this show when we were younger.

My favorite memory is the President's Song. Or the episode where Wakko had to go to the bathroom. "Potty potty potty!" Oh man, that still cracks me up just thinking about it...

So yeah, I'm a huge fan too. =3

My favourite episode was, by far, the Woodstock episode, where Slappy Squirrel tries to find out what the name of the band of the stage is (in actuality The Who). This (a variation of Abbot and Costello's Who's on First routine) goes on in similar funny variations for quite a while and ends with slappy clearing away the hippies by playing polka music.

Slappy: What's the name of the band on the stage?
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The name of the band!
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: The band's name!
Skippy: Who.
Slappy: Stop making like an owl. Okay, who's the band?
Skippy: Yes.
Slappy: So the name of the band is Yes?
Skippy: No, Yes is not at this concert. The name of the band is Who
Slappy: That's what I'd like to know!!

et cetera, et cetera, et cetera....

Hmm, i've received a Kid's meal toy on this cartoon once but haven't watched it. I like the classics such as Tom & Jerry and Scooby doo. Reminds me of the olden days. Guess i'm too old to watch that series now eh? On second thought, that dialog is hilarious and clean comedy. Just the way i like it.

You're never too old to watch cartoons. Barney the Dinosaur, maybe, but not cartoons.

I'd like to think that that would be the natural consensus of anyone who frequented this site, of all places.

Ah, but thanks to semantics, not everyone would define anime as cartoons.

True, that.

I love "Potty Emergency" and Yakko singing "I am the very model of a cartoon individual".

I love Animaniacs. One of my favorite parts of my childhood. One of my favorite scenes is when Dr. Scratchansniff is helping Mr. Plotz and Wakko get over their fear of clowns.
[font="Tahoma"][SIZE="2"]"It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Yakko: Folks, we'll paint your ceiling for only $19.95. Right. How do we do it? No overhead. When we're done, you'll have nothing overhead. You hire us, you have nothing in your head. We paint ceilings, ceilings, and only ceilings. We don't do floors 'cause they're beneath us.

Mr. Director: Hoyl! How'd you... with the going... you were there... but here now... you are... for me to see... how'd you do...

Yakko: You understand any of that?

Wakko: I think he said: "Hoyl! How'd you... with the going... you were there... but here now... you are... for me to see... how'd you do...

Yakko: Thanks for clearing that up.

Yay, Animaniacs! I own the first volume, but haven't found a place that sells the second, yet.

Slappy Squirrel is pretty much my favorite character in anything, ever. Well, her and Pinky. ^^

I love the animaniacs. I got a bunch of money for christmas and I used it to buy both of the DVD box sets that are out. I've since got my little brother and sister addicted to them, they really like Buttons and Mindy. I have three Cassete tapes of Animaniacs songs that I bought a million years ago.

Re-watching the series, I was a little surprised to find myself enjoying episodes that I didn't used to like, while old favorites didn't come off as funny anymore. My favorite characters are now Rita and Runt (they are so a couple!! Shipping! ^^) and I really like the Pinky and the Brain episodes. I like that I can now catch all the adult jokes and pop culture refrences. And the ocasional Tiny Toons cameos are fun (is that show on DVD yet? I loved it too!) From what I've watched so far (all but the last disc of box two) my favorite episodes have been...

-The episode where the Warners were playing detective on the cruise ship, and all the other characters had cameos.
-The one where the warners ended up in Hell and tormented Satan
-The Pinky and the Brain episode where they had to get a dragon's toenail in order to take over the world.
-The episode where all the characters got mixed up. I thought the "Pinky and the cat" segment was good. *sings "She ate the rat cause Rita is a cat cat cat cat cat!"
Jessie and James, together forever!

First off, I'd like to take this opportunity to say...

"When the whipporwill whippors in the wind, the wind will whippor back...

OH, NICE AND CHUBBY BABY!!!!"

Now, with that out of my system... I was given the first season for my birthday a few months ago. I'm loving it and I hope to get the second soon. Some of my favorite episodes are "Potty Emergency", "Super Strong Warner Siblings", and the clown episode where my above quote was extracted.

I love my childhood... ^__^

EDIT: Slappy Squirrel is SUPREME!!!

Man, I used to love this show!!! I can't seem to remember any of the episodes though. I do remember one or two Pinky and the Brain episodes, my favorite characters from the show. Like this one where the were "rescued" by animal rights activists and dropped into the Amazon. XD
