I suppose.

Which song did you listen to?

I can respect your opinion if you listened to "Dead Winter Nights" but if you heard "Not Unlike the Waves", I just can't understand. Perhaps you should hear the extended perfected version?

And what do you mean by metal?
If you dislike metal, why are you in here? XD

Headbanger music encompasses a lot more than just "metal." ^^

It's not that I dislike metal, it's that I find a lot of it kind of laughable. Not necessarily from a technical aspect of the music, however, but more from a lyrical aspect which then ruins the music for me because I can't take it seriously (I have the same problem with a lot of modern straight hardcore like what my friends are into...yeah, yeah, yeah, you love your friends, your family, and being straightedge, that's real nice. Write about something meaningful?), but I'm not gonna start an argument. That's just my opinion.

As for what I listened to, I gave them a fair shake. I listened to everything on their MySpace and checked out their PureVolume page. It just doesn't pack the same emotional and psychological punch that mewithoutYou does, in my opinion, so I don't really get why you're saying Agalloch has made a better album than Bro, Sis. =D They're also two totally different kinds of music, but whatevs.

Alcest is pretty similar to Agalloch's more black metal moments.

(French black metal is wonderful. :) )

I know, but isn't Metal a giant part of it or is Metal as a standalone name a different genre than I'm thinking of.

so I don't really get why you're saying Agalloch has made a better album than Bro, Sis. =D They're also two totally different kinds of music, but whatevs.

Because you've only heard one song from that album. The way that album flows is amazing.

But Bro, Sis is brilliant. Hearing that one song, I just can't comprehend that. I mean, I guess I need to listen to the full album but my love for mewithoutYou runs so deep, I really don't think I'd be convinced.

That's cool, though, if you dig it.

I didn't like mewithoutYou at all until I heard (as you call it) Bro, Sis in it's entirety. I made a mistake a judged the band just from their Purevolume page.
The more I listened, the more I liked them.

So far my favorite mwY song is "Paper Hanger".

Indeed. I'm surprised that MeWithoutYou is considered "Headbanger" music though.

They're not at all.

Tom sent me a PM saying Agalloch's new album is better than mwY's new one. That's what this whole discussion is about.

If this counts:

Band: Nightwish (Don't know of any other metal orchestra)

Type: Orchestra

Album: (don't know)

Top 3(1): Phantom of the opera

I'm looking for more metal Orchestra bands (anyone know of any?)
I'm back with a vengeance or at least anime studio :thumb:

Ram-Zet
Sirenia
Tristania
The Sins of Thy Beloved
Therion
Angtoria
Epica
Leaves' Eyes
Stream of Passion
How Like a Winter
Illuminandi
Theatre of Tragedy
Theatres des Vampires

For some more experimental stuff, check out Peccatum, Ulver, and Star of Ash; they aren't metal, though.

Hey, that's not fair. I foudn myself headbanging to the end of "Paper Hanger" and some of the stuff on [A-->B] Life.

By the way, my friend just let me borrow Living Sacrifice: In Memoriam (basically, their greatest hits), and I love all of their stuff besides one song.
I forget what it's called.

; ) I just don't think of them as a headbanger band. Sure, stuff on A->B Life is heavy... and that ALBUM is kind of a headbanger but overall, they aren't.

Destroy the Runner is the same way. Live they were awesome, but on their cd they were rather boring...

Dir en Grey is also that way, even though I still love their cd, but the live is leagues beyond the recording, anyway Dir en Grey music is great headbanger music!

Which of their albums do you prefer the most?

Wanna hear something that's comical to the insane power?
They're purevolume has a Micheal Jackson song where their song should be.

So yeah, if anything, check their myspace! XD

I like Still Life and Blackwater Park the most. Orchid, Morningrise, and My Arms, Your Hearse are also really good; everything after Blackwater Park I don't really care for.

Really?
I think their new one is really good.
Perhaps my favorite that I have heard but I've only heard the following:

-Still Life (Whole CD)
-"Patterns in the Ivy" off of Blackwater
- A couple songs off Ghost Reveries

I figured you all might want to know that As I Lay Dying is working on a new CD. They've currently been writing songs for it. I don't know when it'll be out but my friend in the band said that there's new stuff coming soon.
