Christian Manga Finally printed

Postby superninjaspy » Sun Feb 29, 2004 4:42 pm

The Way is finally off to the printer! Thanks so much to everyone who has written encouraging e-mails about this project. Orders are now being accepted, and how many people are interested makes all the difference! If there are no fans who want Christian manga, then it will never be made. I've dropped almost $2,000 of personal money into this project because I believe that Christian manga fans are out there. This is the Christian Anime Board's chance to prove that there is an audience that wants to see Christian manga. If we come together and put our spending where our mouth is, we can have the chance to bring about more and more art that points to Christ.

A last thought: I know we're all into anime, but if there isn't even an audience for Xian manga (which is pretty easy to make), who's ever going to gamble the millions of dollars needed to make Anime that embodies the gospel?

For those of you who've been burned by crappy Christian art in the past... a much longer preview will be going up this week. The Way is the real deal...

Waddledee, I'd guess that it isn't in stores yet, at least probably not wherever you live

Anyway it looks good! I may want to see that preview before I buy it though. (Or maybe I should wait until I can save on shipping with multiple issues... hmm.... probably not :P)

I wonder if I'll still be this picky with my money after I have a job

in stores... depends

Postby superninjaspy » Mon Mar 01, 2004 8:56 am

Right now, The Way is only available online. I mean... you can only buy it online... it's getting printed as we speak and we'll send you a real book. But you can't get it in stores... yet.

You see, it costs money to advertise to comic book shops. Money we don't have... yet. But I'll tell you what: If everyone on this board bought one copy, we'd have enough money to start distributing to comic shops. It's that simple.

I'll get an extended preview up today, and I'll post when I do!

Thanks for the interest everyone!

Quick question. I ordered 3 (one for myself, one for the church library, and another one for when someone steals it from the church library:sweat:.) The S&H didn't automatically change, though. Let me know how much the change in shipping cost will be depending on quantity, and I'll make up another paypal order to cover the difference.

Also, is it ok if I try to con a couple local Christian-owned gift/book stores into carrying some copies? If they're interested I'll order the copies personally and directly so there will be no expense risk for you. Just wanted to get some sort of official permission before doing so.

Gypsy- S+H is automatic, it's just that it's the same for 1-3 books. If you'd bought 4, it would have gone up. You can definitely try getting it into some stores via the method you describe. That would be awesome.

Like I said before, if every member of Christian Manga bought one copy, we'd have enough resources to pursue selling in comic shops and Christian bookstores!

Thanks for your support!

Mave, I just put up an order form so people can order with Check (or money order!). I know Paypal doesn't work for all of us.

I just ordered a copy! How long do you anticipate it will be before the manga ships? Thanks and God bless you!

It may take up to 4 weeks to get back from the printer... so up to 5 weeks is my bet on shipping. But it's better than the toy offers on the back of a cereal box... right?

Deconstructionism

Because of the post-modern deconstruction of the relationship between symbols and meaning. And because we live in a post-christian culture (that doesn't know it) who is in need of a new lens to view the Gospel through.

The only problem is, if everyone waits to purchase future issues together, there won't BE any future issues.

I hate how preview text is always small. Its like, 'well gosh darn it, I can read it but it sure takes a while!' I mean, its not hidden or illegible so I can read something if I really want to but I'm sure not gonna get out of it without some stressed eyes >_<

Other than that, looks pretty cool :thumb:

As memory serves, I couldn't read it on this monitor...>.< (slightly blurry screen) I could look at the pictures though, and they looked promising...:)

Way to go Tucker!! Er, uh, I mean "superninjaspy."

You make my dreams not seam so far away.
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
