Bleach manga vs. Bleach anime

Postby rurouninaruto » Thu Jan 11, 2007 11:12 am

Ok, guys. Which do you guys like better, the Bleach manga, or the Bleach anime? For me, it'd be the manga, because the artwork has more style than the anime's artwork, there is more humor in the manga, and sometimes the tv show can be a little boring. So what do you guys think?

Manga>Anime

I seem to almost always prefer the original work over the remakes. In this case, the manga is the original work. I have found that the manga has a better flow to it. Also, adding "filler" is never a good thing in my eyes. I've yet to see any filler anime that is able to meet the bar that the original stories set.

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Oh, the manga I suppose. I generally prefer the original material as well.

The anime's enjoyable however, although I'm a bit miffed that they condensed certain scenes down and removed potential foreshadowing. Good to know that they are finally getting back to animating manga material.

definitely the manga. i find that i enjoy the original series more than the anime. also, i tend to like action sequences in manga more than in anime. finally, i think i like the manga more because i read it before the anime and the anime sorta fell a little below my expectations.

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."

Even without my preference for reading over watching and original material over adaptations and setting aside the filler... the manga. I feel the first part of the anime is really rather good. But at some point (around the time Ichigo fights Zaraki) I started to feel as though the anime was being stretched. Just a few seconds longer of a pause or panning on an action shot, but the overall effect is to make the viewing experience less enjoyable.

Anime,

Admittedly, the bounto arc sucked, but I say don't judge a good anime by its filler. Mainly what it comes down to is presenation, its still images and text vs moving images, sound, voices, and music. To give an illustration.
During Renji and Byakuya's figh, Byakuya imprisons Renji with the light prison, you hear Renji panic, he knows its over, the lights begin the dim, the music kicks in, Byakuya with the coldest of glares unleashes Senbonzakura as the petals swirl around Abarai's doomed body to the sound of a divine melody and SPLAT!!, its awesome, awe-inspiring, and
its something still images and text just can't make up for. The human mind can concieve many things, but the ability create unique melodies is a rare gift, simply concieving new music in your mind to go along with the scene your reading is not going to happen. So yeah, to me music makes all the difference. As we witness whats happening to the characters in any expressive art, we can only empathize so much because were not there, its not actually happening, but music bridges to gap so to speak, bringing out the full emotion of the scene.
