Star Trek Poll Part 2: Favorite Next Generation Character

Postby rocklobster » Fri Nov 10, 2006 5:41 am

Yes, there's a reason it was called Part 1. And here's your poll for Star Trek the Next Generation. My pick is Data. You'll notice I even included some supporting characters, like Ensign Roe and Dr. Pulaski.

Data just barely edges out Worf for my vote. Worf doesn't have a kitty whom he writes poetry about.

Data is awesome. And I've always wanted to know how to shuffle cards like he does...

Crusher. Can't help it have a thing for redheads.

Picard is obviously the best character. Even if the rest of his name *is* Jean-Luc. I always liked him a lot better than Kirk from the first Trek.

Picard, though Data is a very close second. Picard's just cool, and his use of Shakespearean acting skills is simply 1337. Although, I have to say that Q is definitely up there and not on your list...

So why don't we have Q on this list?

Picard ftw! I've been watching Star Trek since I was very young, and I've always liked Picard. He's so cool. :D

As much as I love Data, I only watch a particular Star Trek series if I like and admire the captain. So far, I've only watched Next Generation and Voyager. Picard gets my vote for the coolest bald character to ever exist in sci-fi.

I vote Guinan, I found the character fascinating and Whoopi's portrayal absolutely convincing.

The love has gone straight out the airlock, my friend!

My vote went to Riker--the bearded version, of course! The way he calls for red alert rocks!

"Rrrrrrrrrrrrred ALERT! ALL HANDS TO BATTLE STATIONS!" It's hillarious!

Riker and Troi were the sole reason to watch the finale of Enterprise.I know I keep saying it but it was true.

Yeah, and he plays a great villain in Gargoyles. That's why I think he'd make a great Gendo Ikari in that NGE movie. He even looks the part!

Even though I could understand why you wouldn't like Enterprise (the blatant disregard for continuity being the main reason) I can also see the stretches of logic taken to make Enterprise what it is as well. Pre Federation Starfleet may well have 2-3 ships like NX-01 (including Enterprise) that was saucer and nacelles but the producers were possibly thinking semantics saying that "Well the first Federation ships were the ones with the spherical hulls.... This is the first EARTH vessel with Warp 5 engine...."

And even if the Temporal Cold War hadn't taken out all the "extra unheard of" alien races never before heard of even back in Original Series, what's not to say if the viewers and producers had given the show more of a chance, that there might have been something before the Romulan War that caused some temporal thing to negate their existance? Yeah the Aenar could still exist because they are like the Andorrians but I'm talking about the others that can't be explained away like the Ferengi by saying "It was EARTH'S first contact with Ferengi not the Federations..."

I hate everything to do with anything Star Trek related, but Wesley Crusher is awesome.

Then again, I'm a Wil Wheaton fanboy.

Data is my favorite, Picard is extremely close second. Those characters really developed over time.

When I was a lot much younger, Trio was myall time favorite (I think it was a girl thing) It wasn't untilled I was older that realized that she was kind of annoying person.
