Paris

It’s probably going to be awhile before the next page is finished but I thought I'd make a thread any way.
It's rated 13+ for creepy/desterbing images, monsters and such, violence/blood which I'll try to keep at the minimum to show what going on.
Summary
Paris is living quite comfortably in France on an allowance from his adopted parents, but then he receives a mysterious letter. His life will never be the same.
By the way, "Paris" is set in an alternate universe
Comments a criticism are always appreciated ^-^
Paris
Here's the rating
Minimum age:13
Violence:5 there will be some fights with monsters and vampires too, blood, some creatures and people will get stabbed or shot. Also a scene of domestic violence.
Language: 0
Sexual Content: 2 some romance [maybe]
Nudity (or skimpy outfits): 1 some male characters may appear shirtless
Bad Religion: 4
There are vampires in the story but they are simply demon possessed humans, also the search for immortality will come up. I also hope to deal with some philosophical questions as well so there will have to be a question opposing Christianity first.
Some of the "bad" guys are using science for there own evil purposes causing some characters to go somewhat insane. Also later on in the story there Might be a group of people [cult] who drink blood.
Also I plan to deal with depresion and suicide both attempted and fufiled.
Over all the story has a dark tone, but will be light [and hopefully funny] too in parts, plus it will have a relatively happy ending. I hope that made sense 0_o

The art got my attention, at any rate.

I agree, the art is really good and the story sounds interesting. Will the "alternate universe," be explained in more detail later in the story, or does that come into play at all? Maybe I'm just asking for a spoiler... *shutting up*

The reason for setting it in an alternate universe was so I could include some fantasy type creatures and not have to explain at length a completely new world, which I might have to do any way sense it’s quite different from the real world. Latter on in the story I'll probably draw up a map. Hope that answers your question ^-^

You have a distinct style that stands out. ^^ I would say your panelling is also well distributed and is pretty smooth. I look forward to the updates.
I did have problems viewing the pages though. Instead of getting the images, I would get some text instead. Am I the only one with this problem?

I had that problem too ^^;; I may have forgotten to mention that to you before, Mai. But since I'm here, I'll say again that I liked it (particularly the art style) and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

It seemed to work when I tried it 0_o I have no idea what’s wrong, if any one knows how to fix that and could tell me I’d appreciate it.

Wow, nice art work! Makes me feel miserable, once again, about my lack of any kind of artistic skills whatsoever. . .
I didn't have any problem accessing the pages, everything showed up just fine for me! Wonder why other people are having problems. . . hmmm. . .

It's coming out as text for me also. Internet Explorer probably works fine because it ignores the MIME type the website gives and only looks at the extension (this works fine here, but is wrong behaviour). The headers say it's a plain text file:
- Code: Select all
% telnet www.freespaces.com 80
Trying...
Connected to www.freespaces.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
HEAD /lunareda/Paris/001.html HTTP/1.0

Content-Type: text/plain

For an HTML document, it should say text/html. I would send this transcript to freespaces.com and ask them about it. IE only works because it's ignoring standards.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. ^-^
I rearranged the pages of Paris, so the newest page #5 is now #7
and page 2 is a bible verse.
Also I'm going to my grand parents for 5 days, the day after tomorrow. So I won't be able to add anything for a while.
Edit. I changed the rating a little

It's looking pretty good, overall. It's only 8 pages so far so I don't expect too much to happen yet. Hehe.. I'm wondering what will happen next so do keep up the great job. ^_^

I just stumbled across this thread recently, and I definitely agree with the general consensus: your artwork is gorgeous. You've done a nice job with this, especially with some of the larger panels, like page 1.
My only complaint about the visual element is that the plaid texture in Paris's friend's pants sticks out a bit from the texture of the rest of the page every time I see it.
Other than that, this is a nice start; I love your art style. It is highly reminiscent of Shutterbox and Bizenghast, two Tokyopop titles by American authors (both have a gothic feel).

It's been a while since I commented, but I'm still reading. I liked the dream sequence, particularly the cover of part 2 (p 15).
In page 17, when I first glanced at it I wasn't sure what was going on with Paris's hand in the middle panel, but it became clear after a closer look.
In general, I like the dark tone of the comic; I look forward to reading more.

Your artstyle gets better each time. XD It's starting to remind me a bit of Hideoki Samura (Blade of Immortal). Do you draw with pencil or pen?
Your style carries a more grim and dark feeling in a good way~ Looking forward to more.

Thank you!
I draw using sukura micron pens, I'm going to start using pencil to do shading.
Added page 23 If I continue to update at this pace it will be a few years before it's done 0_o
