Angel Tales

Postby KhakiBlueSocks » Sat Apr 07, 2007 3:31 pm

Okay, I was going through my older DVD's (the ones I haven't seen in a long time) and I came across this one called "Angel Tales".

From what I've seen, it kinda smells of "Harem" anime, but the plot is really cool. Basically this guy (Goro) has these guardian angels living with him, which are really the reincarnations of the pets he loved and adored (And died from different things). Now, these angels are living with Goro, trying to help him turn his bad luck around, while at the same time fighting for his affections. (Oh, and did I mention that the angels call Goro "Master"?) I only have the first volume, so I was just wondering...

Anyone else heard of this?

Heard OF it. The animation and characters looked cute, but I also smelled "harem" in it. From what I remember of reading about it, the angels were like, something else like animals or stuffed animals or something like that? Looks like I'll have to go on ANN after and check it up again^^

EDIT: Well, wasn't as lazy as I thought and looked it up. Hmmm interesting....
Goro's down on his luck. He keeps losing jobs and has little money. One day he meets a fortune-teller outside of a pet store who predicts that his luck will change. That night three girls appear in his appartment claiming to be his guardian angels. Soon a total of twelve girls appear to help him, each one a reincarnation of a deceased pet once owned by Goro.

That's actually kinda messed up^^ Yet, makes sense...

I just finish watching the first of the series a week ago because I had bought it and didn't look at so I just decided to start looking through all the DVDs I have sitting.
I have seen there is a second season of this series which has not been issued as yet.
From what I have seen Goro has had many pets or cared for animals which died of different causes and when they became angel the traumas of their death still affected them when they had to face them when they confronted by something similar.
The last of the first season had his parents making a arranged marriage for Goro with a girl who had gave him the hamster which he named after the girl. Now the thing is the hamster angel took on the appears of the girl or woman when they were young which most of the angels look like the girls or women which gave him the pets or animals to care for.
Goro decides to become a veterinarin and continue his studies which he had quit doing to find jobs after he left home.
There is a situation with four other charactors who are called the Master Beast who are male and kiddnap four of the angels to make them brides.
Then things really get interesting for the story.

It's something I would really like to see but the boxset costs about $44.98 or so.
I believe Michelle Ruff and Wendee Lee are in the dub as two of the reincarnated pets.
btw:Love harem comedies.

It's a bit of an odd series. Regardless of the devotion showed for their past master, I'd have to say Goro is the worst pet owner ever. I mean who here has lost a dozen pets before they even graduate from school?

The show is a harem anime of sorts, all of the pets are female and the vie for Goro’s attention to varying degrees, but it’s pretty harmless. The impact is lessoned a tad due to the fact that the girls are basically the reincarnations of domesticated animals, which you would expect to be devoted to their master. There is, of course, the whole reincarnation thing as well, to add a hint of “bad religionâ€

IF I ever find it in somewhere like Borders when I have the money or single DVDs
I will probably buy it.Reincarnation doesn't bother me as much as some others.
After all one of the premises of Inuyasha is that Kagome may be the reincarnation of Kikyo.

If you have watched and liked Sister Princess you would probably like this series. Yes, instead of collecting sisters he collects the reincarnated pets.

Though to be serious when I read up about it at Wikiepedia it appeared that the different pets each had her own particuliar phobia when she was reincarnated as a human girl. This appears to do with the way each one died.

Actually in a way this is the opposite of the old Don Knotts movie:
The Incredible Mr. Limpid where a man becomes reincarnated as a fish after drowning.
