Speaking of fans of Saito and Toshiro Mifune...

...there is a Toshiro Mifune movie about the Shinsengumi squad which, one would think, pretty much _has to_ feature Saito and Okita in it somewhere (if not Jin'e, too, in his 'real' historical name.) It has been distributed as "Band of Assassins" aka "Shinsen Group". If anyone knows how to get ahold of a legal copy of that (with English dub or sub), pass it along!

(And no, that isn't the movie which features what is, in essence, Jin'e's back history. Though for all I know it may be the sequel... {shrug})

Followup: according to imdb, Sojiro Okita _is_ certainly a character in the film, and Toshiro plays the leader of (at least one of) the Shinsen groups; though Saito is not mentioned as a character in the credit list. (There _is_ someone named Fujita, which was the name Saito took afterward in the Meiji Era, but the name isn't Gorou Fujita.)

Also, I have located several versions of the story, including Mifune's version (which he himself produced), at ebay. Not sure how legit some of them are, but... {shrug}
