Emiko Niwa (Daisuke's mom ~ DNAngel)
She's just hilarious. I don't remember a scene with her that wasn't fun.

Ikkuko Mama (Usagi's mom) - amusing how she always got booted out of the house everytime she failed...

Misuzu's mom - drinks too much^^ Yet sounds cute when she does :/

Ryoko/Ryou-Ohki's mom (aka Washu) - ...she's smart, and amusing.

I too, love Emiko from DNAngel

I also LOVE the mom from Duel Masters (I haven't watched much of the show) but this one epidsodes she calls her son on the telephone and is like "OH GUESS WHAT HONEY! I TALKED TO ORLANDO BLOOM HE IS SO HOT!"

I lurve pop culture..^^;

But in a lot of anime that I watch the main characters don't have moms...except for like pictures...I wonder why that is..

A few of my favorite that come to mind:

Misaki - Sasami and Ayeka's mother in the Tenchi OAVs. She's just plain hilarious.

The mother of Kasumi, Nabiki and Akane Tendo - No name is ever given that I know and she only makes an appearence in "The One To Carry On" but she seems a gentle and sweet spirit.

Nadoka - Speaking of Ranma, I have to include Ranma's mother. So sweet and deadly at the same time.

Wonder Woman - A Ko's mom in Project A Ko. Having Wonder Woman as your mother? How cool is that?

-Usagi/Serena's mom in Sailor Moon, even though I thought she was a bit hard on her sometimes in the earlier episodes(at least she was in the dub; was she any kinder in the original?)
-Sakura, Momoko's mom in Wedding Peach
-Sakura's deceased mother Nadeshiko in CardCaptor Sakura

I get a kick out of Marion Haruna, Laura's mom, from Hamtaro. That is, I get a kick out of how she tends to call Laura either "Hamtaro" or "Brandy" -- much to Laura's dismay.

Nope, she yelled at her and threw her out of the house in the sub too

I don't remember many anime moms... much of the anime I saw had the Disney phenomenon of dead mothers. The only one that sticks in my mind (and not positively) was Mrs Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura, who always told her son "I never should have had you." I remember being troubled since I wasn't sure whether the Japanese implicated she merely wished he had never been born or whether she was implying that she wished she had an abortion, which would have been troubling. (I forget the Japanese verb, but IIRC it was a past negative of "to bear")

edit: Forgot Misae Nohara from Crayon Shinchan. I'm suprised she's not bouncing off the walls in a padded cell after dealing with her bratty little son

Yeah... anime likes to have their mom's dead or dates busy at work (in most cases on business trips for long periods of time) or even in some cases both parents are over seas working with the kid(s) at home :/ Anything that works to get the parents out of the main picture^^ Although... it's understandable with the parents at work thing, concidering Japanese culture and all (and nowadays the moms moreso too).

Since I'm currently 1/2 way through watching Full Metal Alchemist, Ed and Al's mother comes to mind first of course. I like how she's shown so positively in their memories, like the time they make little statues for her. No wonder they are so devoted to her even after she died.

Kagome's mom on Inuyasha both amuses and annoys me. If my daughter came and said, "Hey I found this portal into the past, so I'll be hanging out there in my free time." I would be saying, "You're taking me with you 'cause I want an adventure too!"

 Emiko Niwa from DNAngel was the first anime mom that popped into my head. While I'm not sure I could cope with her as my own mother, she's definitely hilarious when she's in action.

Same goes for Cheri from Kyou Kara Maou - not the greatest mom, but definitely entertaining. It's also kinda scary how much Wolfram looks like his mommy. D:

I like Tohru's mom from Fruits Basket. And I like Ed and Al's mom. All the nice moms are dead.
Kagome's mom is just weird.

I agree about Misaki. She cracks me up.
I also liked Kiki's mom in Kiki's Delivery Service.
