What's this anime?

Postby Slater » Sun Mar 12, 2006 1:35 am

I'm not sure what this anime was. I saw my sister watching it tonight and I caught like 2 minutes of it. It had this awesome looking fight scene between two giant robots, one called an "angel" and the other called something like "Eva" or something like that. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all that I saw from this show, save for a few anime characters but I didn't catch any names...

Anyone know what show this might be and what channel exactly it's on?

Neon Genesis Evangelion.

It's actually one of the DnD titles on CAA. I personally like it, it's a bit odd at points, but cool none the less. I'm not sure how much else I can say about it though XD

what's a DnD title?

I'd like to see more of it, but I'm a bit worried... it's honestly the only anime that I've seen that actually "bleeps" certain words out... is there much language?

That's probably for the best. Give the stance you take on various issues brought up on CAA, NGE would likely upset you greatly.

That's just my take on it, though. You may want to read the review and see if it's something you're interested in.

heh, well who knows. I still enjoy Bobobobo bo bobo, and you probably know my stance on crossdressing and effeminism, but I still find it funny. However... This show seems much more serious (not exactly a hard thing to do. FLCL was also much more serious) than Bo7, so... who knows. If it is so bad, then I'll keep away.

NGE in my opinion isn't bad... but rather depressing and some Christians take offense to it.

That's why it's a DND title here, because endless debate would occur between the fans and the people who are offended by it.

I`m sort of confused why this anime is on the DnD list.
The content seemed just as bad as Samurai Champloo and FMA and stuff like that.
As far as Religious content, I haven`t seen any. I KNOW there is some present but I`m just curious as to why it`s bad.

I'm thinking it has more to do with arguments or such that may have arisen due to the controversy over it. Haven't really seen it myself, though. :/

I can see this possibly getting locked...

yes, lock plz. Already people are doubting the DnD list (where is it anyways) and this Anime's adition to it, and I think that the mods wouldn't appreciate that.

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the Do Not Discuss list is not a list of titles condemned by CAA, but titles that for one reason or another would be difficult to discuss around here without raising someone's temper. It's a rather fine distinction in some cases, but I feel it is an important one. I was actually turned off to this site for quite some time until I happened to give it another chance and came to understand the true nature of the list. In my rather limited travels around the internet I have run into other people that have made the same mistake I did and come to the same unfortunate conclusion, so I believe it's important to keep the true purpose of the list clear.

I think Myoti had it right (to the best of my understanding). NGE is on the DnD list because the religious connotations (or lack thereof in some peoples' opinions) and discussion of such tend to turn into theological battles on sites where theology is a strong aspect of the membership.

Since neither theological debate nor flame wars are allowed on this forum, discussion of NGE (which often devolves into one or the other or both) has been barred via the DnD list.

That's my understanding, anyway.

OK. Guess letting this thread die off was an excercise in futility. Cap'n Nick was dead on the money. As you can tell from the responses you've received (and yes, you question was in fact answered) there are some people on this board that liked the series (myself included). HOWEVER. I have YET to see a thread about this one that didn't devolve into two or three members who would continuously interrupt a great discussion shouting things back and forth like, "I can't believe you call yourself a Christian and say you like this filth!" or sometimes, "Only a close minded moron like you would say this is filth!"

This descussion are, in the opinion of the board administration, "No conducive to the building of community." Needless to say, these posts did not pass the Ephesians 4:29 test, and were locked post-haste.

And now, locked.
