Is anybody here as obsessed with trigun as i am? I've only seen two episodes and i'm hooked. Vash is so hot! Does anybody know how you get an avatar?:?:

Yes, Trigun has quite a big following around here, myself included. And I don't know about being hot...I mean, Vash is just some colors splashed on a cell after all, but the fangirl in me knows what you mean. ^^
Oh, and for the avatar:

Alright, more Trigun fans! They're comin in like crazy. :dizzy: Trigun is awesome, I am up to about episode 20 or so. The storyline is very smart, and the artwork is awesome. By my sig and matching avatar, you may have already figured out I am a big fan. :brow:

Enjoy.

I've seen it all, watching for the second time on CN. It's my favorite series so far LOL. Great plot, great writing, some great characters, and. . .

(:jump: :red: fangirl mode on:jump: :red: )
As for the best bishounen in it, I'd have to say either Wolfwood or Legato. While I don't like all (or in Legato's case 99.9 percent) of their actions within the series, IMHO both look way better than Vash.

I'm getting these from http://www.sakura-petals.net/trigun/index.html, then putting them on my hard drive andf uploading them (since they have major bandwidth issues to the point of not even being to add screenshots from the last four episodes)

Kenshin on Trigun:
I like Trigun that I do. It's a show about someone with a reverse blade sword who decided not to kill any more, that it is. *Karou bonks Kenshin on the head* "That's our show you idiot!" Oh yeah, there is no reverse blade sword in Trigun. Oro Oro!

Me on Trigun:
I think it's a great show. Great characters, a good dub, and a great plot. I like how it starts out with heavy comedy and later gets more serious.

Ahhhhhhhh!!!! This isn't happening!
*NEWS FLASH*
It was confirmed earlier today that there will be no more Trigun. The show will be replaced by Reign, the Conqueror. The same will happen to Cowboy Bebop as well. It's being replaced with Lupin III.

So for those of you who don't already know, you won't have to sit in shock on Monday night when the shows get dropped. :waah!:

ack! wuuut? thats ridicoulous. trigun and comboy bebop were two of the best shows on adults swim! why would they do that! and reign the conqueror isnt even a really good show..watched it once and didnt really catch my attention. lupins the third is ok..but cowboy bebop is better. ackkk.

That is a shame. Reign is so ugly (uh, in my personal opinion) and I appreciate the anime character that wears pants ( I think that's a shared opinion). And Lupin, any Lupin, bugs me. That really is too bad. Ed will be missed.

Hey again. I have a question. Anybody who's seen all of trigun, can you tell me what types of objectional content it has in it. Does it have demons or nudity or anythinglike that. Much appreciated. Please reply as soon as you can.:)

I'll be blunt and just list them:
1. Violence (gunfights), with a bit of blood. No severed limbs or anything like that, but it does get intense. About PG-13 level
2. Language, mostly in the beginning 5 episodes of the dub. After that it disappears.
3. One partial nudity scene...I don't remember it being very detailed, but it was mostly implied (waist up).
Vash had to strip before a band of thieves to save a girl s life
4. Wolfwood is a minister, and to some his behavior could be considered mocking
5. Legato has some psychic powers; like telepathy and telekinetics. However, he's the main villian, so I really don't find it offensive...I draw the line when a HERO starts using that sort of stuff.
6. Minor sexual innuendos scattered throughout

The 15+ rating I think it has is about accurate...it's not real horrible, but there is stuff in there.

I've seen it all. . .

As for demons, unless you could consider Legato and Knives demons, I don't recall any *as such.* There was a character in episode 15 equipped with a teleportation device called the "demon's eye" but it wasn't anything *demonic* in the traditional sense.

Vash and Knives are referred to as "angels" and their ultimate weapons as "angel arms," but that's really more of a sci-fi thing than really demonic in any sense I've ever heard of. . .

as for sex/nudity:
In episode 18, there is some serious fanservice (meaning he is wearing absolutely nothing) on Vash. You don't see anything frontal and it's blurred for the most part aside from one frame.

In episode 23, Wolfwood is shown shirtless and there's a scene implying that he and Milly were, how shall I put this, sharing a lot more than sandwiches and wine. However, this is done incredibly tastefully-it's not like the scene in Eva with the "noises" and both characters shown in some state of total undress. In one frame, the characters are talking, the scene switches elsewhere, then when it comes back to them Wolfwood is staring out the window while Milly is sleeping, fully clothed. I'm not saying it's OK or anything, but I'm saying it was implied and not obscene or anything.

Throughout the series, Vash is implied to be quite the skirtchaser, but also an incredibly unsuccessful one-and usually gets more than put in his place when he tries anything (i.e., he's slapped more than a few times, he gets a door slammed in his face when he attempts to follow someone to her room, etc.). Strangely enough (but really unusual for a lot of anime), in episode 7 he actually refuses two women the town brought for him.

As for profanity, sorry, there is some, although the TV edit has the least, the sub more, and the unedited dub the most. In the TV edit, it's mostly mild-and can even be rather infrequent dependent on the episode some have more than others-although on occasion a stronger word may be used. In the unedited sub and unedited dub, there's a general uptick in the words (and the "S" word is in the unedited sub and unedited dub while it wasn't in the TV edit), but I don't think the "F" word or curses involving God beyond an occassional "Oh my" are used in even the unedited. (I haven't seen the unedited, I compared the TV edit to the edit lists at Anime News Network.)

Violence is the main issue most people would have with the series: although it's for the most part not gratuitous and considered an act of desperation, hatred, and even sin, there is a lot of it, sometimes graphic.

Wolfwood is a priest but not a very good one, to say the least. Throughout the story, he's caught between doing good, doing harm, doing harm in the name of good, and so on. Some people think he's actually an interesting character (me, and a lot of others) yet others will see him, his weapon, his attitude, and his portable confessional ( ) to be really insulting. The thing is, don't view him as an actual, serious portrayal of Christianity (because he really isn't) and you won't be insulted. You might actually even like him.

I never really caught onto anything between Milly and Wolfwood...perhaps I missed that, but I had never taken it that way.

Oh yeah, Legato's "abilities." I didn't really think of that much since he was the enemy. By the way, there's theories (albeit fan theories) that Legato's insanity and hatred of other humans was caused by his "psychic powers." IOW, his abilities destroyed who he was as a person and drove him mad to the point of insanely murdering.

In fact some people at otakuboards (albeit non-Christians) argued this point VERY persuasively. I wish I could direct-link to posts there, but I can't. I would recommend (if you don't mind discussion of the transgender Elendira from the manga and a good bit of moral relativism and Buddhist blather from the discussion participants) viewing this thread starting here http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23761&perpage=15&pagenumber=2.

If that were truly meant to be the case in the series, then it would actually be a somewhat accurate and good message on this issue-that having such "power" is dangerous and destructive.

Oh yeah??? I caught onto that when I watched episode 23. By the way, this is only a fan theory, but it is very well referenced.

Message me if you want the link. It has some HUGE spoilers on Wolfwood, I tried to cover it with spoiler text, it didn't work, so if you want to know, send me a PM.

Hee hee, I knew Trigun would catch up ^^ Again, I watched the whole thing (subbed) a few years back and I really enjoyed it. The last fight was one of the best climatic action sequences I ever seen. The opening and closing songs were great. The guitar riffs really sets the mood ^^

The dub actually isn't THAT bad; I'm actually impressed with Vash's dubber somewhat. But at times the dubber just doesn't cut it well enough as Vash's seiyuu did in "serious" mode. I do miss Milly's cute "sempaaaaaaaiiiii" in the original though ^^

And I would like to add Legato's original seiyuu's voice is dreamy

 About CN. . .GRRRRRRRR that they're taking both off now! I only saw the first 11 episodes of Cowboy Bebop (yeah, I was a latecomer) and I was taping Trigun this time around (I didn't the first time except for the last two episodes) Since I don't want to watch the unedited DVDs of Bebop (I heard they were worse than the televised series, however, if they weren't THAT much worse I might, but the rumors I hear say they are definitely much worse) I miss half of one of the best animes of all time.

I'm really annoyed. Especially for Lupin and Reign??? IMHO, that is an outrage. Two series that are much less in quality, characterization, art, everything replace two of the best anime in existence. What is with CN?

I don't understand what Cartoon Network's obcession with Reign is. I think that it's probably the worst of their lineup. I'm actually happy about them showing more Lupin III, but I'm not fond of some of the changes made to the dub.

Gypsy, why don't you care to see any Lupin III? The second TV series (the one shown on CN) is pretty clean (though the dub added extra cursing and more innuendos. ick!) for the most part and Lupin III never wins in the end. I admit that the second TV series has some really goofy and corny episodes, though.

The Lupin III movie Castle of Cagliostro is much better than the TV series. It's a Miyazaki film and has much of Miyazaki's charm in it. It even has Miyazaki's trademark flying machines. If you have only seen this movie in the Manga dub, please go and watch the subtitles instead. None of that excessive cursing is in there and only minor PG level cursing is in the subtitles. The Manga dub also makes some liberties with the translation and adds extra dialog where there was none before. The subtitled version is VERY true to the original and much cleaner than the dub, so please DON'T watch this movie in the dub. Fujiko is drawn much more tastefully in Castle of Cagliostro too. Even if you don't like any other Lupin III, I recommed giving Castle of Cagliostro a try (IN SUBTITLES!). It's very different from the TV series and it's a Miyazaki film.

I recommend avoiding the Lupin III dubs for the Castle of Cagliostro movie and second TV series. The Pioneer Lupin III dub is funnier than the original in parts, but the added innuendos and other issues bring it WAY down.

I recommend avoiding the manga if you expect to be the same as the series. I heard it's eechi.

That quote about lack of characterization in Lupin III was rather harsh. Lupin III was the series that inspired Cowboy Bebop. If you don't like the TV series now, you might want to wait for the Miyazaki episodes. I heard that they are very good episodes and they have Miyazaki trademarks like flying machines. The episodes in the second season are self contained, but there are over 100 of them. However, there is that little problem of CN showing only the dub of the second Lupin III series. ugh.

Um... I'm probably the only one here that finds Reign "decent" ^^;; Purely from an artistic POV though. You don't get a character design and plot THAT dramatic anymore. The concept for the char, costume, and machine design is just mind-boggling.

My *mother*, yes, my *mother* loves Reign ^^;; She agrees with me (for once) that it scores WAY high on the dramatic, thearical, and artistic scale. And for once the character designs are made by an Korean. (at least, I find the style to be Korean and the character designer's name could be Korean)

What's the difference between Korean manhua and Japanese manga? I can't really describe it, there's just SOMETHING undoubtly different between the two. After seeing both for some time, the difference would come to you.

But of course, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop would naturally appeal more to the general public (including me)

I think that I have a theory on why Cartoon Network is doing this. I read off of ANS (Anime News Service) that CN was getting nervous how alot of the late night talk shows were gaining audience numbers and Cartoon Network was loosing their count according to a recent Nelson Rating they did. They may be pannicking and trying to get different shows on the air. They can't very well get rid of Kikaider since that is their newest show and InuYasha still has new episodes yet to be shown (new episodes late august). So 2 had to go, the ones that have already been shown all the way through before. This is my hypothesis, because it is really odd to me how they decided to just dump two of their greatest shows shown on Adult Swim.

I honestly don't think this move will improve their ratings. Now maybe if they were replacing Trigun and Bebop with some equivalent or better anime, that might cause ratings to go up somewhat.

However, removing two of the best animes ever (with high marks all around for writing quality, character design, art, music, etc.)and replacing them with two that definitely fall into the "fair but not worth more than a glance as I change the channel" category is an incredibly stupid mistake.

If and until they add these animes again (or add something better than Lupin, Reign, and Inuyasha :mutter: ) they've lost one viewer at least.

What I want to know is when they're going to start showing Starblazers on Cartoon network?

Oh well, looks like I'm not going to get to see Vash on CN anytime soon... I'll just have to drop the $80 on the boxed set :D
