Kodomo no Ochama

I've seen the first few episodes, and it's really funny. I'm hoping it'll be available for rent some time. Does anyone know how it develops later on?

I don't have a 'Kodomo no Ochama' listed in my 'cyclopedia, but I do have a 'Kodomo no Omocha' "Child's Toy" -- is this the one you're talking about?

love Kodomo no Omocha!!! such a good series!!!
:jump: Hayama Akito Rules!! His the cooless
I love the manga I read all the vol. and the anime is cool I just saw the fist 3 eps tho. :( I wanted to watch more Kodocha :rolls_eye oh well back to the topic. Kodocha is a very hilarious series is very funny and intresting. I don't like the art that much the characters are way to skiny (sorry that's just my opinion), however the story is very sweet and I got very into the manga. :jump: I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'll shut up :hits_self ,because I know I'll spill some spoilers without even knowing I did :dizzy:

Night, like a black veil descends now embracing the world around me.
I sleep, yet do not...
your presence is near.
You invade my every dream...
even when I am awake.

Wha?! Ya'll talkin about the anime? Personally I think it lacked the luster and energy of the manga. I've watched a few of the eps, and it just seemed like Sana, my favorite charecter, or who was playing her, just didn't have the heart. It felt forced too much. I looooooove the manga. So far I'm on book 8? Or is that 9?O.o; I dun't really remember>.< Kodocha is really one of the best mangas out there, and it's one of my personal favorites. :jump:

umm... GAR, OK?

The anime doesn't lose ANY energy, if anything it's grossly more energetic... Also, I love sana's actress (her original, not the one they got to do later on...) What is really different between the manga and anime is the anime has a lot more sillyness... All the events in the manga (at least what I've read) are in the anime (at least what I've seen.) but the anime has the addition of the token cute cross species animal, and clever gimmicks (like the rapping, I don't think that's in the manga) Other than that, it's about the same... Same plot, same twists, same heart... Just the anime has more sillyness to lighten the mood (as if the manga didn't get silly enough by itself...)

I love both the anime and the manga... As for the manga, it was the first manga I reallly got into and wanted to read all the way! The second would be Marmelade Boy (aren't those both shoujo? I read shoujo and most girls I know read shounen... what's with that?), both of which I want to follow to the end (though I never had the money to get the books until now...)

Well I just seemed to think Sana was more hyper/goofy/silly. *Shrugs* Maybeh it's just me. I dunno. Maybeh she sounded more psycho like me inside my head o.o; Also I have a large amount of Kodocha manga for sale. I'm sellin like 1-8 or 2-8, somefin like dat, along with a lot more others. I also have for sale Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Perfect Collection, going for suggested price of $60, but I'm willing to go as low as $50. Your gettin ALL 6 DVDs, AND the huge case thingy which is just plain cool. This is like dirt cheap here. o.o; It's cheaper then manga!!

maybe noz should change the typo for all of us *poke*

Anyhow, it's unlikely right now we'll ever get it... It's just too old... It was a fluke we got the manga in the first place... *crying softly* the only way we'll get it is in a sub only release, it's just not going to be possible to dub... unless of course someone releases it on CN and then of course they'll change EVERYTHING and ruin it... man, what's worse...

no, it's not CN style... It's also not TechTV stlye, and they have no say on what anime get's an american release like CN does, so that wouldn't matter anyhow... It's definately not Action style, or showtime beyond... If animeigo gets it, that'll be nice... do tehy still exist? I hope to see a sub only release!

spoiler for those who haven't seen the first 7 eps or so
Pretty much the whole show is about the on and off relationship between sana and hayama... The character development comes in their growing up, and becoming teens...
well, there's a lot more to it than that, but the story is 10 books long and it's over after that... You may really want to check out the manga since that's about the only way you'll ever see the story in NA... There aren't even fansubs for the whole series (thought there are HK releases, but you might as well watch the show raw as to see their subtitles from what I've heard) so the manga is your only hope in North America...

I may be wrong... I hope that someone picks it up for subtitling and NOT for butchering...

My brother bought the first DVD in English and it's cool. I recognize at least a couple of the voices from Fruits Baskets. (It's kind of distracting to have Rei sound exactly like Shigure.) :brow:
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Hmm... SECOND GRAVEDIG! I'm watching the Funimation DVD right now... I have to say, I both overreacted and reacted perfectly when I heard that Funi got this...

1. The subs are just fine... Nothing was changed, except the removal of Mamochan due to legal issues (though that in itself is hillarious... The entire show goes mute and the subtitles have x's replacing the names... In the dub they just change it to a different band) The potentially hair ripping politically incorrect term that Sana uses in regards to rei is left intact... But

2. The dub!!! It's just weird to compare the two... They took elaborate steps to make sure it wasn't offensive, but the fact remains IT STILL EXISTS IN TEH SUBTITLES... The Bizarre comment that Sana's mom makes, the whole "pimp" thing, and sana's subsequent explanations... They're all still in the subs, but completely removed in the dub... It's a bit strange... It seems obvious to me they prepped this for a potential Cartoon Network release... I did expect them to alter it, because it's funimation, but alter the dub and leave the sub unaltered? That's just... weird...

3. Also, the hyper feeling you get from the original dialogue just doesn't happen in the dub... YOu need only listen to the way Sana talked in the original, even if you don't speak Japanese, to feel the way the show was originally... SHe's much calmer in this. I understand that's because that's POSSIBLE In Japanese in a way that isn't in English... Still, I was sorta hoping they'd be able to pull it off...

Anyhow, so far I'm happy... I don't know what the thing was with Mamochan and the original opening, but I sorta miss that... "RELAX" is not the same... I mean, it's sorta cool, but the original song was part of the original show and it just hurts to have anything taken out...
