Sakura Wars

Anyone else watched this? I have the first volume of the Return of the Spirit Warriors, but that's all I've seen of them. They're releasing a new series of them. Seemed like a pretty clean series to me. Although the red-headed girl with muscles scares me.

I've watched a couple volumes of the OVA and the first volume of the TV series. It's a pretty clean series, from what I've seen. I never got that heavily into it. It's okay, it's just not one of my favorites.

Sakura Wars is my favorite anime. I have seen some of the TV series and owned the first and second OAV. It is my favorite anime. I'm trying to complete Ecole de Paris and the manga. I have some live musicals and soundtracks regarding the series. It's my favorite anime. Maria Tachibana (looky my avatar) is my favorite character.

did I mention that Sakura Wars is my favorite anime?

I think you might have, Dillian, but say it one more time to make sure.
The series sound interesting. I've thought about renting it, but my "supplier" doesn't seem to have the first dvd.

It's one of my favorites as well. My only complaint though, is MAN some of the english voices just make me want to cringe... on a separate note though, isn't the Ecole de Paris OVA split into three parts?

yes I think so... one part is dedicated for Sumire's retirement.
I agree with the voice stuff, I like the Japanese seiyuus better.

...and one more thing before I forgot... Sakura Wars is my favorite anime. :P

it's all about a group of girls who are hailed to defend the Imperial Capital from demons and other evil stuff. They used steam mechas called Kohbu's as their spirit armor. But aside from their defending job they also pose as actresses and singers of the Imperial Theater.
this anime is more on character development and interaction among members of the team... and of course there are lots of singing and plays.

first Sakura Wars was just a videogame by Sega. when it hit market success TV series and OVAs followed. The Hana-gumi (this is what the group is called) not only sing as anime characters but they also perform in live shows/concerts/plays as well.
The seiyuus of Sakura Wars are one of the best there is in my opinion. This anime really blew me away.

now that you mentioned that... I have to set aside my biases. :P

first of all the TV, OVA and the RPG game have some discrepancy regarding events and some character developments.
Sakura Wars will pained your pocket to get the whole story done. (but I suggest that you play the dating game where it first spawned)

Their enemies were demons and will mostly speak of evil stuff. (well, their the antagonist right? so they must have.)

if you're looking for hard core action... then SW might not be for you (though they do battle and stuff... I feel that they talk more than they act... )

I haven't played the game honestly, but based from what I have seen from the TV and the OVA's I have seen no pervert stuff.

you could hint a bit of shoujo-ai ... but it will ALL be in YOUR interpretation, since they are all girls.
