Can you imagine how freaky it would be if the English VA's of Naruto and Sasuke switched roles? Now -that- would be awful simply because it doesn't match the personality.....it has nothing to do with the voice of the VA. It's like giving Sasaki Nozomu (Yusuke Urameshi/Guru Clef/Naruto's Hayate) to play Momiji Sohma. Teehee.... :brow:

Nah, I'm happy with whatever is dished out in any anime dub. No matter how hard you try, there's no way you can please everyone. >^^<

I think its important to remember that in Japan, certain things that we would consider inapropriate are considered funny and slapstick. I highly doubt that "the kiss" had any other implications. Anime is full of these situations and bits, you don't have to accept them, just remember that they may not have been interpreted in the same way.

I'm generally happy with voice acting so long as it isn't really grating or obviously out of character (like the japanese version of Ghigo in princess mononoke). Editing i HATE, especially for stupid reasons, but Naruto seems to have kept that to a minimum (at least, to what I was expecting), so I'm happy with the dub.

EVERY dang character is Naruto`s voice matches their character.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't real have any problems with the voices. Naruto's wasn't bad, it just didn't sound how I expected it to (though what I expected would probably be quite... irritating :/ ).

Just finished Ep 4. Kakashi's VA, in my opinion, did a pretty good job considering the standards he needed to fulfill. Though sometimes, and I agree with whoever says this, he does sound a bit to...strict. I am getting used to Naruto's voice more and more as well as I have noticed the VA improving with each episode.

And they keep the 1000 Years of Death! (that's what it's call right?). Though everytime they said "destroy" or "destroyed" instead of "kill" or "killing" made me cringe.

I just finished watching it as well! It was the best episode yet! We got to hear more of each character's voice. I thought Sasuke sounded great, and you're right, Naruto's VA has improved considerably. I think he fits the character perfectly now! I also loved Kakashi Sensei's voice. He sounds so cool! This is probably one of the coolest anime I've seen. I love the idea of a ninjutsu school! Too bad they don't exist in the real world.*sighs*

I enjoyed this episode, and Kakashi's VA is good...but the feel of his lines was a bit stiff. I dunno. It just...the voice was good, but something about it was a bit off to me.

But I'm sure it'll get better. ^^

This was a great episode though...I found it hilarious when the eraser fell on Kakashi's head and Naruto says, "You totally fell for it!"

Two words that get annoying: Believe it!

Naruto overuses them so much it makes the show worse.

Yesterdays episode was pretty good, but I wanna know how far this series is as a series.....

Um, Hokage? O_o

Basically something of great importance to the village, I believe. The fourth one gained the title for stopping the Kyuubi (but then he died), and the first started the village, I think.

If I remembered right, the First helped form the village, then he stepped down an dhis brother took up the title of Hokage. Then the 3rd was chosen by his master, the 2nd (the 3rd is the current hokage in the series) and the 4th (who sealed the Kyuubi) was chosen by his master, the 3rd Hokage instead of
Orochimaru
. Then the Tsunade (5th) was chosen cause
she's one of the 3 Legendary Nin's....if I am correct...
Of course the dub is many episodes behind when all this happens.
tsunade became the 5th because her grandfather was the first, and jirayia didn't want to be hokage. And Naruto also motivated her to do so
There has already been a fair response to the Hokage question (I really should have known how it was pronounced, but I've been pronouncing it "Ho-Cage" and I don't want to change), but the simplest answer has yet to be given: you become Hokage by being the strongest person who wants the job and hasn't done anything illegal. Sometimes a Hokage admits someone else is stronger than him, sometimes tests are required. In any case, Naruto is a long, long way from this point, even with the current manga.

I'm afraid I have to return that doubt. It is catering to the yaoi audience from the very start.

Oh...Are there more "accidents" like that later on in the show? I didn't get the feeling that there was anything between the two, but I'm probably wrong.

There is nothing between them... save a great bit of animosity and later mutual respect, which obviously translates to romantic love. [/sarcasmtagI'dreallyrathernothavetoincludebutshould]

If I recall there are no incidents (certainly nothing that obvious), though I remember some others being slightly annoyed by a scene much later that is technically innocent but the type of thing yaoi fans might like (I refer to the end of the 5 Sound-nin arc, for those of you who know). Overall, it is not something that I feel should concern me.

Oddly enough, I happened to catch the fourth episode yesterday. I think that Kakashi's voice actor has done a good job with the character, but should focus a bit more on his voice acting itself. Otherwise, I have only two comments, both minor:
Believe it! ...Naruto says this a lot. However, if I recall the Japanese episodes properly, he's pretty redundant there as well.

The other has already been noted here, but replacing "kill" with "destroy" is an odd choice. I didn't see how it could be annoying when I saw that post, but after seeing the episode I understand how some lines fail to read properly with the change. It did work a few times, though.

Holy crap, how long has Naruto been out? Does Naruto go on a big quest? The series hasn`t even ended yet in Japan. I MUST KNOW MORE ABOUT NARUTO!!!

Is this one of those shows where every episode is to be continued like DBZ or is it like each episode is a scenario of it`s own? Is it like a story that has no ending? If Naruto isn`t that old, how far ahead is Japan`s anime of America`s?

FYI, the shortest anime I`ve ever seen was titled "Shinzo."

0.o I didn't notice much change, aside from the "believe it" thing... And I think that's replacing a japanese phrase - whether or not it's *appropriate* that it's replacing it is .. to be seen.

Still, good to hear that the VA quality is getting better. Just hope it continues - who knows.

Tom, each episode is... well, has a theme within it which is a sort of "goal for the episode", which gets finished (usually), but it also has a "to be continued". It's versatile in that way. And... Eh, naruto is not likely to be "short" at any point. It's over 150 anime i think right *now* and its likely to go much, much higher :P

Naruto is set up in various story arcs and it does have a continuous storyline, yes.

The storyline, though as long as DBZ, doesn't get very repeative at all.

The American Dubbed is showing the 5th episode this sat. In Japanese, they are up to episode 154 I believe.

Oh, cool.

So how much stronger does Naruto get?

At first when Naruto first made commercials for the DUB, I thought Saskue was the main character. Why? Because I haven`t seen any avatars with Naruto on them. Just Saske.

How often do those Sexy Jutsuis or something appear? I only say that because starting next week, my sister is going to watch Naruto with me and switch it to "Full House" during commercial breaks. XP

Naruto gets... Ah, A lot stronger. Though his attacks tend to get repettitive, though that may just be because of the current filler arcs.

Let's just say ... Naruto right now is maybe 1/100th of what he becomes - and that's just to where the anime is at now. It's still being made.

Answer in Spoilers Please:
1. Well, romance is hardly a major focus of the series. At the point where it is in Japan now, no. But like I said, romance isn't a focus of the series...despite all of the Naruto romance fanfiction out there.

2. Yes, after a certain point, there is a time skip of several years. The anime hasn't begun animating that yet in Japan however so I can't answer anything about the voice.
Eh, only a handful of times during the series...

Regarding the plot of Naruto: though it has some smaller "quest" type arcs, I think the entire series is definitely moving toward an ending point. Therefore, though it may be long indeed, it won't seem cyclical. Later on, almost all the episodes are "To be continued."

Tom Dincht wrote:So how much stronger does Naruto get?

This has already been answered in part, but I agree that it is quite a bit. But he still isn't as powerful as many of the characters you've seen in these first few episodes and he has a long way to go before becoming Hokage.

Unless some were added to the anime, you won't be seeing one again for quiet some time.

Okay, after watching Saturday's episode, I have to say I'm growing to like the VA's a little more. Naruto's is....eh. Sakura sounds tomboy-ish, even though she's not. I like Sasuke's voice - sounds a lot like the Japanese VA. I'm liking Kakashi's VA more now, even though he still sounds a little too strict on some parts, but on others he's more laid-back. The Third Hokage's voice is pretty good, too.

I have one complaint, though, and it's on one of my favorite character's English VA. Shikimaru. The voice is terrible. That's all there is to say about it.

Other than that, I think they did a good job dubbing it, especially the dialougue, which I don't think they replaced too many words (except for "kill" to "destroy", there wasn't really anything else).
"That Man, born in That Day and also known by the alias This Guy or That Person, is well-known among ninja of the world for developing That Jutsu and his key role in That Incident. However, he should not be confused with That Man who is That Man but is not really That Man." -Uncylopedia.org, on the Naruto character That Man

Interesting - I particularly *liked* shikamaru's voice - especially as he's my favorite character in naruto. I wonder why we see it so differently? I think that though he's not quite as bored, he betrays more of the "This character is more intelligent than they appear" kind of thing instead of "wow, he's really, really bored". Which he has some of - just not as much.

He was the guy in the 1st and 2nd episode. In the 2nd, he comments to Naruto that non-graduates weren't allow to attend however he didn't know Naruto graduated. Shikmarau has a intresting clan ability
able to minuplate shadows
. He is very lazy and dislike working hard however he is a strategic genius.
He played a huge part later in the series which has gain him a substational fan following that competes with the more important characters.
