Yep. But I wonder why they called it that? Probably the episode title was a joke from the comics? I know they haven't made THAT many episodes!

Does anyone remember the "great Teen Titans gap" about a year back? When they kind of just stopped making episodes for a while?

Can't say I do.

So it looks like this season will be divided between the original Titans as they search for The Brain and Titans East.At least that's what it looks like
to me from last week's preview.
I think it's great that Titans East are getting some more of the spotlight. :thumb:

Indeed. Speedy and Aqualad are teh cool.

I'm not sure what "gap" you're talking about though. Could it have just been a space between seasons? These days cable shows seem to be on very odd schedules

Probably was. It was back when I was really into the show, so it probably seemed like longer. I still like it, but I'm not always home when it's on. :(

:) Thanks.

I wonder if this season will focus on the characters' relationships any. Last season did way more than before. But it's probably going to be all action.

This, of course, makes perfect sense, however... Robin and Starfire are pretty much already an unofficial item. AND they even get married in the comics, so it's pretty much EXPECTED that they will end up together in the end, whether on or off the series. So while I actually doubt they will bring finality to it; (I say this because 'The End' seems to have sparked a following of Robin X Raven shippers) it seems as it would be the most likely pairing to get air time. DC Comics based series' (even TT; Remember when Cyborg got blasted to the past?) have never been shy with the concept of romance; and I think RobXStar at least has a chance.

starfire wrote:So, in a sense, we are our own worst enemies?

Yes. The creators of series' like this are VERY WELL AWARE of shippers. Part of creating these shows is studying fan reaction; and many creators/writers will lurk on message boards; newsgroups; fansites; and will even read fanfiction. And naturally; everybody is divided on what pairings they like which results in that they don't really like to explore relationships to deeply; to keep the masses happy.

Wouldn't you know it, last weeks episode was on tonight! How cool is that?

Not a whole lot of story, but the action was much better than anything in either part of "Homecoming." What I wanna know is why only Robin and Starfire got any lines.

They kinda have a lot of characters to work with at the moment. They can't really focus on everybody at once. This week focused more on the honorary Titans, and next week will focus on the Titans East.

You have a very good grasp of the situation. However, if they actually get together on the show I'll be highly surprised, for the reasons already ennumerated. They definitely get the most hints during episodes (and in this series hints tend to be rather blunt).

Azier the Swordsman wrote:DC Comics based series' (even TT]
But, of course, the relationship ends ambiguously and will likely be barely touched upon later, if at all. This is the level at which I predict basically everything will hover, because this is essentially what fans want.

Azier the Swordsman wrote:(I say this because 'The End' seems to have sparked a following of Robin X Raven shippers)

I could more or less be considered one, though I haven't seen the episode and I don't write TT fanfiction. This has nothing to do with anything actually in the series (as you stated, Robin and Starfire can essentially be considered a couple) but exists mainly because they're the only characters I really like. That's a tendency of mine. On the other hand, if the series includes Raven/Robin hints I'll be disappointed; it would be be more gratuitous than anything else and ruin one of the few platonic relationships in television.

Personally, I'm a Raven Robin fan. Their personalities compliment each other. But I would say we have a better chance of Barbara Streisand hosting the next VMAs than we do of them getting together.

I think that "The End" story arc was geared toward raeXrob fans as well. It's more that the fanfiction inspired the show than vice versa, as their pairings have been the most popular since the shows early days.

It was probably just a little something to stop the death threats. Poor directors. Crazed fans are a scary thing, I would imagine. I honestly can't fathom getting that worked up over a show, no matter how good.

I understand the need to develop other characters and everything, I just wonder why Robin told Starfire to tell the others something when they were ALL on his communicator screen.

I honestly never picked up on any actual Raven/Robin hints in "The End." Since Robin is the leader, it just seemed kind of natural that the most scenes with Raven. Not that I don't see where all the shippers are coming from. (If you want my oppinion, I can see Raven having feelings for Robin, but there's no way he'd feel the same way. If you ask me.)

RobXRae shipping is the 3rd most popular shipping; with RobXStar as #1 and BBXRae as #2. 4th is BBXTerra and #5 is a tie with CyXJynx or CyXBee. (Anyone ever notice that he keeps a picture of Jynx on his wall? Pay attention during several episodes...)

This is an opportune time as any to ask: what is the origins and development of the slang term "shipping/shipper"? It is one of the few that I know only by usage, not by history.

You mean Sarasim (or something like that)?

This week's episode... flippin' AWSOME! I mean, Control Freak is funny in pretty much any context, but the over-critical internet fan mokcery was great!

...hey, wait a minute.

What I loved about the ep. was the way Titans East got their collective egos crushed when people kept wondering who they were.

While the TT's are out fighting the Brotherhood, the Titan's East crew comes into baby-sit Titan's Tower and the city.

Control Freak picks this time to unleash his nefarious plan to defeat the Titans. He has weapons design to counter each Titan's powers. When he finds the East Titans there instead, hilarity ensues.

It was a great episode, but I can't say any more with out spoiler tags.

Simple, a LOT of us like Teen Titans!

I coulda done without Control Freak cosplaying at the Titans, though. As soon as I saw him in that Robin outfit, I started praying "PLEASE DON'T DRESS AS STARFIRE! PLEASE DON'T DRESS AS STARFIRE! PLEASE DON'T DRESS AS STARFIRE!" So much for that... :shady:

You gotta wonder, though, just what the Titans East were doing when they agreed to hold down the fort for a while. I mean, why aren't they worried about their own turf being over run with bad guys? Was Brother Blood the only one to head east? (I guess it would explain why no one has ever heard of these guys)

Thinking too much about the logic behind cartoons will only lead to a splitting headache. How do you think Batman got the way he is?
