Just pick a poll answer.

I haven`t seen Panic but I love Alchemist.

I've seen all of Panic, the majority of Alchemist. The latter received my vote. I'll admit that I'm biased because I strongly dislike romantic comedies, even those involving a fair amount of action. However, I do feel that Fullmetal Alchemist has greater moral depth (by having any, essentially) and a more complex plot.

I voted for FMA too... FMP is good, but I have only read up till the first 3 mangas..and there was A LOT of Fanservice in the anime and manga... As funny as Sagara was...Ed is funnier! ^_^

Pluse I like the story line better than FMP because it has a lot of character growth..and I REally have no idea what is going to happen next!!!!

FMA ALL THE WAY!! YO!

I've seen half of Panic and 3/4ths of Alchemist and that's enough for me to give my support to Panic all the way.

There is no connection between them whatsoever aside from the similar titles.

I have a feeling this'll be a one sided poll in Alchemist's victory, but having seen all of Panic!, Fumoffu!, and The Second Raid I'm definitely going to have to go with Panic!

I mean, Metal Gear Solid set in a high school with mechs.... you just can't beat that.

I've never seen FMA. But I have seen FMP and rather enjoyed it. The baseball bat underware scene took the cake. (for those who have seen the series)

That's hard. You're comparing a comedy/action/romance with an adventure with not-as-much comedy. I've seen all of FMA (incluidng movie) and all 3 seasons of Full Metal Panic. Both are really enjoyable, and Sagara is a character to admire at times (if you've seen the last few episodes of The Second Raid, you know what I mean)

Full Metal Panic has Teeletha Tessarosa (<3) and Kaname Chidori (<3)

As UC said, FMA does have more moral depth and more emotion. FMP has more action, and more comedy, (Especially Fomuffu) and more romance ^^;;

It's hard, but I would have to go with Full Metal Panic on this.

Liked both, but Alchemist more so.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

I think both are in the top 100 best animes;but I have to vote for FMP because I love mech's and I'm a hopeless romantic.

Egad, nobody is explaining, just voting! ^^

I know Full Metal Panic, and I will speak for that. It's about a 17-year-old guy (Sousuke Sagara) who grew up in weird circumstances and was raised to be a soldier for an independent peacekeeping force. Now, Kaname Chidori (the girl) is the person he is assigned to protect. Serious plot: Kaname is a special girl with secret plans hidden in her subconscious, dangerous in the wrong hands. So Sousuke has to protect her. Funny plot: Sousuke is absolutely, completely clueless about normal high-school life, and makes school life almost hell for Kaname from all his mistakes.

So Full Metal Panic is a mecha, sci-fi, romantic comedy anime with lots of action.

Full Metal Alchemist, on the other hand, is more of a fantasy type anime, with a whole lot of nice characters and nice fights and nice magic once in a while. It has equal share of comedy, sad parts, and action parts.

As the people said, only the names are similar, but there is absolutely no connection to the two of them.

since, I already have a good sense of the plot of Panic and have read a little of the manga, I`m going with....

Full Metal Jacket - a reference to the kind of ammunition typically used by the US military since (among other reasons) hollow point rounds are banned by the Hague Convention as "inhumane" for warfare (so you can blow a man up with a landmine but you better not use expanding rifle ammunition? Oh well.). The movie is about the Vietnam war. I understand that it is inaccurate in many ways and I'm not thrilled with the anti-military sentiments. Still, I found it to be a good watch and R. Lee Ermey's potrayal of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman was absolutely awesome. Note: This is definitely NOT a movie for the under 18 crowd. Very violent, rather disturbing.

Er...anyway...sorry to go off topic. I haven't seen Panic, but some comments in this thread make me want to. Anyone want to recommend which is better between the manga and the anime?

Full Metal Jacket? No, it's live action. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, actually.
