Last Exile Is Awesome!!!

Postby holysoldier5000 » Thu Oct 27, 2005 6:07 am

Last Exile Fan here,
I just finished watching all 26 episodes of Last Exile and I just have to say that Last Exile is the best anime ever! I got the first four episodes about two weeks ago and got so hooked that I had to get the rest, and yes in two weeks I watched all 26 episodes. And the thing is I want to watch them all over again. It was just that good! It even tops Trigun in my opinion, (which is my second favorite anime.) I want to thank Christian Ronin for suggesting Last Exile to me. It is just too cool and I would suggest it to anyone else. Even if you don't like anime this one is just way to good of quality to pass up. Any way I just want to know if we have any other Last Exile fans here on the CAA?

And if you don't know what Last Exile is then here:
Japan's top anime creators bring a richly romantic action/adventure fantasy in an imaginary planet where retro-futuristic sky vehicles permeate the skies. Against this lavish background are the lives of young and heroic van ship sky porters – Claus and Lavie – who are forced to take on the mission to deliver a mysterious girl, Alvis, to the battle ship Silvana. Before they know it, they become entangled in an aerial adventure between two countries griped in an eternal war of magnificent air battleships.

I really enjoyed it. It has awesome artwork, a compelling story, colorful characters, and both good subbed and dubbed. The dub is the best of any series in my opinion.

I agree 100%. I am gonna try to see about getting the thinpack. I want it bad, but even with my discount its over $65. Not cheap. Still Last Exile is worth it, great animation, good story, great characters, and killer style. Gotta love

You too, W4J?
Hmm.... I think we share the same distributor in Australia and NZ, don't we? Do you have to buy through Madman/ buy Madman Entertainment brand anime? We have to pay $29 NZ for most volumes also.

As That Dude said, I like Last Exile. I still have to find/watch the last episodes, but I've seen quite a few of them and have enjoyed it.

Yes, almost all anime is only available via Madman distributors. Anime is not the cheapest here.

So CA how long is it going to take you to watch the last few eps of Last Exile? As long as it did Trigun? I found it intersting that Cluas has the same American voice actor as Vash from Trigun.

 I'm not sure if I could ever wait as long as I did for Trigun....
I haven't been able to get hold of the other episodes... though I will check out the video store. They've been stocking up on a small selecting of Anime recently, which is very cool. :thumb:

Yeah. It's not the cheapest... but at least there's a distributor. ^_^; I'm hoping that as it gets more popular the price will come down.

I recently found out another interesting fact about the voice of Claus Valca (Johnny Young Bosch). Not only does he do the voice of Vash from Trigun and Kiba from Wolf's Rain, he also was a Power Ranger once! Another really cool fact: Johnny is also part of a Christian music band called "Eyeshine!" He does vocals and rhythm guitar. Check them out!

Not surprising really when you realize that there is a limited number of professional voice actors around so a lot of them end up working on the same projects.
As far as the Digimon connection goes Michelle Ruff(Tatiana)voiced Zoe on
Digimon:Frontiers.She also voiced the following:
Mitsuki Sanada(Dual)
Elie(Ravemaster)
Maria(Gungrave)

Last Exile is beyond awesome. The thinpaks are already available at a cheap price, but I managed to grab the DVD's as they came out (with the 'bigger box'). But it's all worth it to see Gonzo's masterpiece. Lavie is hands down my favorite character. :)

Claus was my favorite character. Little clueless at times but he had a good heart.

But all the characters are quite interesting. Faithfighter and I were having a debate about the depth of character action consequences. Like Alex Row and Dio. One of the questions that struck me was "Is Alex Row really a good guy?"
He wasn't much of a good guy when you look back at all he did. He was willing to sacrifice his crew, the world, and the girl who loved him in his mad selfish quest for revenge... Which his mad revenge binge ended up killing him anyway and did not do any good. He ends up getting left out of being a real hero like Claus was.
Glad someone else looks up VA's in their spare time besides me. XD Actually, a TON of anime VA's were on Power Rangers at some point. I found that quite funny.

Anyway, Last Exile is BEAUTIFUL. I love it. The OST is very good, too. Especially the ending song, which I'm in love with. It has such a good English cast as well. I just wish it was a little more recognized. It's an amazing anime.

Last Exile is definitely on my list of all-time favorite animes. I first saw it on G4 last year. My sister knew there had to be something to it because I rarely display the type of enthusiasm for a series that I did when I told her about it.

I love all the flying. I'm a huge aviation buff.

A lot of the same voice actors show up on Geneon and Bandai-released anime...but ADV has a different set of voice actors (not sure, but Funmation doesn't seem to use the same seat as Geneon and Bandai). That's why on many of the Adult Swim anime series you hear the same actors (those are the series from Geneon and Bandai).

Heh, same here.

For some reason, parts of Last Exile reminds me of the aerial combat of World War I, minus wings or propellers on the planes. If you can recall in the first couple of episodes, Claus even performed an "immelman roll," a not so common technique for the pilots of WW1 and seemingly in LE.

Those huge battleships can be considered the zepplins. :)
