A lot of people are talking about Angelic Layer, and how is Record of Lodoss War? I could've gotten the whole series of ROLW today. I think I could've gottent the first season of Angelic Layer, too...

I've only read the Angelic Layer manga, but it's awesome! not too cute, the fight system is much better than what you first might think of (i.e. pokemon and digimon style, it's not) and overall has a warm, heartfelt sense to it. Like I said, not too sugary though. Definately recommend it!

Record of the Lodoss War is a good series, although it's pretty much a standard sort of fantasy. In other words, a young farmer's son finds out his father was really a great knight living in exile and goes off to avenge his death, save the kingdom, etc. It could have been based on a D&D campaign. It's still pretty good nonetheless, at least the original series. There's a newer one that's not quite as good.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

What they said. Both series are great, though I don't know as much about Angelic Layer. I own the entire manga and just bought the first DVD, though I have only watched the first two episodes thus far. It has good animation and the battle system is interesting--so far it seems like they go a little deeper into the interaction between angel and Deus (the person who controls the angel) in the anime than they did in the manga, and there are new characters and angels in the anime. It is a clean, fun, and cute series as far as I know.

I really like the original series of Lodoss, the OAV rather than the TV series. Yes, it's pretty much a standard fantasy plot, but it's very enjoyable with great animation nonetheless, and you can get it pretty cheap. I would recommend both these series.

We just finished volume 3 of Angelic Layer and it is a good family friendly show to this point.

If Angelic Layer follows the style of the Manga and such, then it should be clean all the way through. I've read all 5 of the Manga and I bought the first DVD when it came out (I'm going to have to wait till I'm working again before I can get the rest of them).
