Anime at Work?

Postby KhakiBlueSocks » Wed Dec 20, 2006 4:23 pm

I just started a new job, which is going to give me my own cubicle to work in. I was thinking about adding some anime stuff like pictures and figures or stuff like that...

I was wondering if anyone else did or ever thought of doing this? And if so, what do you have?

My advice: Limit your figurines to 1 or 2. Posters you can have a bit more.

I've moved this thread to the appropriate forum. Please, choose your forum carefully.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Well...hehe...I wouldn't put any anime stuff up myself. How it would go over really depends on the work environment, I'd take some time to sound that out. At my work if I tried to put anime stuff up...well, I could do it, so long as it didn't look unprofessional, but I doubt it would be well received. Though, it would add some colour to a cube whose current highlight is a well-used copy of "Nuclear Reactor Analysis".

ROFL, Line your desk with anime character bobbleheads.

*cheap Office joke* XD

You could always buy an anime themed mousepad. They sell them on the internet...somewhere, I forgot. XD

This is just a call center, nothing really public here. I just wanted to do something different than just putting pictures of my family (which, of course, I WILL do!)

The mousepad thing is a good idea, though!

What about an anime calender, too? You'll probably need one for your job anyway, so might as well make it one you enjoy...as long as it's not too crazy. XD

The most anime thign I've done at work, was bring manga to read on my breaks (although I ran out of new ones to read through at the moment :/) I don't get a desk or anything... but I work in Home E and help sell games and anime, so close enough^^

Normally I never put up anything other than what's strictly necessary. But I just got a Shelter of Wings poster for free and I want to support the company, so I may put it up in my dorm at college. It will feel a bit odd.

No, a clean desk is the sign of a dirty mind. Remember that.

I, personally, have no anime posters or wallscrolls... I may print out some 8x10s of anime wallpapers and put them on my back wall... It's looking pretty bare right now. As for doing it at work? I've never had a cubicle, I don't know what that would be like.

Nope. That's out! No downloads, Jumpdrives, CD-ROMS or Floppy's allowed on the production floor!

However I am really feeling that Calender idea! I did see a cool Naruto Calender in the mall a couple days ago!

College, eh? Now I have a general age for you! Your somewhere between 18 and 40! Haha, thought you could hide it forever? XD

Back to the topic, I would feel weird putting up anime stuff in my workplace. Not that I'm ashamed of it or anything, I just think it would look tacky. Maybe if I found a really nice artistic piece, but most of the stuff available isn't.

I have many anime wallpapers on my desktop. I'm not sure if much more than that is OK, so I don't push it too much. Of course, I just realized that I don't have a single picture of the Wolf at work. That needs to be rectified, I think.

That information is freely available on these forums, actually. I'm at the lower end of that spectrum, but I won't say any more to let you find it for yourself.

I don't publicize my anime fanness and I have a cube so I don't have any anime stuff up. The closest I get is I have anime wallpapers ocassionally (and I change my wallpaper at work a lot). Although now that I think about it, there are a lot of anime fans at my workplace, but they scare me so I don't want them thinking they've found a "fellow believer" or something.
