I was just thinking, with a board this big, contests would be really fun ^^ There'd definitely enough people to participate. Maybe like, a fan art contest, or writing ?

As long as the contests are fairly specific in scope, sure, it sounds like a great idea to me too.

Me too-although I only normally only write fanfic for posting at fanfiction.net, some contests would be cool. . .-^.^-

Yea! Sounds cool! Maybe we could be the contest-organiser-team!
...with Ashley's permission, of course.

I'm here! Did someone call?
Well, I wouldn't mind having a contest or two going on. In fact, I'd love it...get some action around here. Perhaps even the old art contest could get kicking again. What did you have in mind guys? An art contest? Writing? Poetry? Web design? Lyrics?
And hey, if you three or four want to get together and plan out contests; all the power to you. Just brainstorm some ideas, run 'em across me and I'll help set them up.
Also, unless someone has a better idea, we could run it the way we did at the old boards...i.e. you email a designated mod/admin with your votes, and they're tallied manually.

I wrote a system that tallies votes totally annonymously a while ago. I can donate the server space to house it too. (Or not, whatever).
*edit: Even lets you create/view results online, but only after whoever creates the thread turns on viewable scoring.*

I don't know. I like St. Peter's idea. But I have a problem with part of the issue in general.
In any given contest, someone loses. Losing isn't fun. Though I think we can handle a contest, they can become problems. After all, we're not really trying to outdo each other in Christ. Plus, I'm a competator by nature, so it's a stumbling block for me. I try to avoid competing in anything if at all possible. But it seems like I'm overwhelmed by others who wouuld like contests.

Well, if we keep it lighthearted enough, I don't think it'd be a problem...although I have issues with St. Peter's idea. Telling someone they have the best artwork of the week verses telling them they're the best member of the week...well, one is much more likely to feed your pride too quickly. Although I see your point UC...and it's well taken too. Hmm...an interesting choice, and one not to be shrugged off lightly. Heh, if I've learned anything in the past two years, it's that all decisions are to be taken seriously. Still, it was not an issue at the old boards....I tell ya what. I'll consult with the other admins and mods as well as see if they have any misgivings that would hamper it, and of course consult the Great Counselor, but that's a given, right?
