I have cried during several of Terry Brook's Shannara novels; i.e. when said author decided to kill off several characters. However, I cannot remember crying over much else... I'll get misty-eyed during some bits and pieces, but not the sobbing that I experienced when two of his characters kicked the bucket in a waaaaaaaaaay dramatic way. (No hints as to who, but people who have read both series will know who/what I'm referring to.)

I think there has only been one book that made me cry. It was "The Oath." It's also one of only two books that scared me (the first being the original Jurassic Park) Of course, I have been pathetic as far as book reading goes... I really need to read more often...

I may have cried during one of the Chronicles of Narnia... I'm not sure...

Brave New World (FAVORITE BOOK)
The Giver (and its companion book I forget what it's called)
Fareinheit 451 (I dunno why hehe)

SO SAD!!

Oh yes! I cried at the end of those as well! However, that is mainly because I can identify with Harry on both instances, especially book 5. *sniffles and shuffles off to her corner* :sniffle:

*sniff*

Hm..? How did those make you cry?

I've read the entire series of the Chronicles of Narnia many times. 3-4, I think. I think I'm on my fourth...I never cried during any of them, but they were sad. Especially Voyage of the Dawn Treader when...

The only book I can remember crying from is Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, I think everyone knows why. I read Johnny Tremain, but I don't remember anything sad about it. But then again, I have a bad memory, lol...

I read A LOT, and I always cry a lot in books, and I don't know why sometimes! Here are some that made ME cry:

The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings)-Tolkien, especially at the end!
The Chronicles of Narnia-C. S. Lewis, again, the last book is SO sad! (yet not)
Where the Red Fern Grows-dunno, *sob*
Bridge to Terebithia-dunno, again *sob*
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire-J. K. Rowling
Of Human Bondage-W. Somorset Maugham
Walk Two Moons-Sharon Creech (one of the saddest books EVER!)
I Heard the Owl Call My Name-Margaret Cravin (so, so SAD!)
The Diary of Anne Frank
Watership Down-Richard Adams
More Tales from Watership Down-Richard Adams
Shardik-Richard Adams (one of the best fantasy books ever!)
Interview With the Vampire-Anne Rice
The Once and Future King-T. S. White (the awesomest book ever!)
The Power and the Glory-Graham Greene
The Young Unicorns-Madaleine L'Engle
A Severed Wasp-Madaleine L'Engle
A Wind in the Door-Madaleine L'Engle
Protecting Marie-dunno
David Copperfield-Charles Dickens (his best book, though it is very long!)
Outlander-Diana Gabaldon
Dragonfly in Amber-Diana Gabaldon
Voyager-Diana Gabaldon
Drums of Autumn-Diana Gabaldon

I can't think of any more right now, but I know there are some! I cry at some point in almost every book I read!

Hm..? How did those make you cry?

Because...in the first book, Kaoru's an orphan, a friend (no spoilers) betrayed her, at the end-of-volume special she was talking about how she couldn't be sad about her parents' death because she couldn't remember them.

Then, in the second book, Sanosuke's friend was killed when Sano was just a kid, Kenshin was willing to do *anything* (again, no spoilers) to save Kaoru's life, and then:
RUROUNI KENSHIN SPOILER! BEWARE! Highlight the following to reveal dreaded spoiler.

Kaoru stopped Kenshin from killing (and breaking his no-kill vow) to save her life; she broke out of Jin-E's spell to stop Kenshin from becoming Battousai again--and the spell was very powerful and she shouldn't have been able to break it but her love for Kenshin was too strong.

It was sad! But somehow happy and sweet and...and...*breaks down* :waah!:

Hm...I've never cried reading a book (or watching a movie or listening to a song for that matter), though I may have gotten close at some points. Oddly enough, I most often get choked up over fanfiction (you know, the really well done deathfics and stuff), which may sound a bit pathetic, but it's true.

I read about the first 20 books in that series when I was younger. What numbers of the series are those? Did the series ever end?

I can't rememeber any specific book that made me cry, but I know I have a couple of times. I need to read more than I do.

Man, there's a bunch of books and even fanfics that made me get teary eyed. Though I believe the record for quickest tear-jerker due to "awwwww" factors is Next Door Savior by Max Lucado. Man, every chapter is just so... so... awwwww.

When I read 'Ella Enchanted' for the first time I cried. Then I cried at the end of Garth Nix's Shade's Children, The Ragwitch, and The Seventh Tower.

That was one of the only books i've ever cried during (and I read a lot), when Tahiri said good-bye to Anakin, and then he dies saving the Jedi *snivel* Anakin and Tahiri we're my favorite characters.

I think I cried or felt like it, while also feeling sick, during The Giver (those who read it will know what I'm talking about)

Those are the only books I can remember crying during, maybe an animorphs, posibliy LOTR, that's all i can think of, mayble i'll remember and edit later.

I would have cried at the end of Harry poter 5, but-- someone gave away the "Oh-my-gosh!!!-I-think-I'm-gonna-cry moment." But I got sorta sniffly at the part where
the part at the end when Harry's talking to Luna and she talks about how people steal her stuff and tease her. I just felt so sorry for her that I got a little teary eyed.
Several, I guess:
The Return of the King - Grey Havens chapter I read three times in succession... and all that time I was wondering what in the world Tolkien was doing...
She Said Yes - Yeah, the Cassie Bernall Bio
The Hiding Place - Corrie Ten Boom's WWII account
The Mark of the Lion Series - A Voice in the Wind (Vol. 1 in the series)moreso, though. I guess I was drawn in to the novels pretty deeply. They are very real life novels.

I have to read alone because books make me cry! I cried on LOTR Return of the King but I thought I was the only one! And I cried on Anne of Green Gables. The Giving Tree (don't laugh, it was very heartwarming). Plenty more but none I can think of at the moment.
