The Shack

Has anyone else read this? I'm still in the first chapter, and all I know, is it's about this guy whose daughter was killed in a shack. A few years later, he gets a letter from God asking to meet him at the same shack. I've heard it's pretty good.

I've heard mixed things about it. Some say it's amazing while others say the theology doesn't really match Scripture. I'm not sure if I'll read it.... I'd wanna learn more about it first.

That's what I've heard. Some say it supports Christian Universalism, some say it doesn't. I don't know which lol.

I havn't read it yet but I keep hearing good stuff about it. I'm not particularly fond of this sort of book myself though, but I might give it a try eventually once I get through some of the other things I'd like to read.

I've heard mixed reviews, but mostly good ones from trusted sources. The author himself said that it's not meant to be a theologically correct book in every way, but more of a speculative and fictional story. Still, I hear that his portrayal of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all really interesting, and I've been told I should read it a number of times. XD

I think it's awesome. I especially like the portrayals of the Holy Spirit and Lady Wisdom.

I've read it, and while it does convey the nice and fuzzy attributes of God in an ok manner, they leave out the just as important fearsome and Just attributes. A good tool for honing your views, but it'd be a mistake to base something off of this book alone. n.n

I have read it. Theologically, it isn't really that far off. Maybe a fine point here and there, but nothing too major.

It is really, really, boring though, and that is its biggest problem.

I also don't like how it goes for shock value.

The book isn't well-written and yes, it's more speculative than anything else but I think it makes some good points about our Triune God and his relationship with his creation.

I like it ^_^ I'm not an expert of theology, but I thought that part of it was pretty good.

Sounds like a pretty good book! I'll have to look into it. xD
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
