CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Ok, lately I have been a bit dissapointed, because the last two books I have started, I have had to stop reading because of the content . I was reading this really awesome book called "The Poet" but it got pretty full of sexual content! I was wondering if anyone could reccomend some good Mystery/Thriller books that do not contain sexual content (or at least not much), or occultic stuff. I am not to concerned by language, but if there are loads and loads of f bombs I probably wont read the book. So anyway, I am looking for a mystery/thriller book, preferably one in a modern setting, about serial killers or something of the sort. Thanks!!

Try Dorothy Sayers. I haven't actually read any of her fiction, but she was a Christian, and she wrote quite a few mystery novels.

Frank Peretti is always a good one to go to for suspense and the like. His Veritas series (intended for teens) is mystery, and very good, as are his novels.
The "Lamb Among the Stars" series by Chris Walley is also reccomended. One gets drawn into it to the point of losing sleep.

I recommend these authors for ya:
Ted Dekker
Mary Higgans Clark- no violence or excessive swearing in her stuff.
Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston- their stuff is really good. Try Cabinet of Curiosities or Still Life With Crows.
and Frank Peretti, but I think someone already mentioned him.

Yeah-- the book that you said that you'd like to read perfectly describes a great deal of Ted Dekker's writings. He is my favorite author, so I might be biased, but I really think you'd enjoy him! My favorite book of his is Thr3e, the sypnopsis on the back basically says:

"Kevin Parson is driving home one day when he receives a call on his cell phone. A mysterious man with a gravelly voice demands that Kevin confess his sin to the world in three minutes, or his car will be blown up. Without a clue as to what sin the psycho is talking about, Kevin ditches the car. Precisely three minutes later, it blows up.

Another call. Another threat. Another bomb.

The story only accelerates from there. Who is the villain here? Is it a serial killer the media has dubbed the “Riddle Killer,â€

G.K.Chesterton's Father Brown stories.

P.D. James' Adam Dalgliesh mystery series--might put you to sleep, depending on your temperament, but very restrained and well-plotted. Taste for Death is the best in my opinion, despite it's rather cliche'd title.

Barbara Hambly's Benjamin January series. Historical/mystery.

Jeffery E. Barlough's stuff. I forget the titles. Insanely detailed and great world-building.
