Cool ad. I am sort of annoyed that M. Night is directing this, though. I didn't see his last two films b/c I felt so burned by the two before them.

I've been waiting forever for that preview, now it's here I guess I'll have to wait for the movie. I want so badly for this movie to be good but the teaser and this ad could go either way.

Just remember, the bad guy was M. Night Shyamalan all along.
Just kidding it was really a mascot.
Just kidding it was really a forest fire.
And then it turns out the bald kid was actually autistic and dreamed the whole movie while he was looking at a snow globe. GREATEST MOVIE EVER.

All I pray is that he was true to the series since I know he is a fan of Avatar (his daughter got him into it). We shall see

Doesn't look bad to me. I haven't seen too much of Avatar: The Last Airbender, though. Mostly the Abridged series... From what I've seen, it looks worlds more faithful than Dragonball... And, Unlike Dragonball, this show seems actually POSSIBLE as a live action movie.

It does look REALLY good so far. I can certainly say that I'm excited to see this, being an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan myself.

Bob, what is the Abridged series? I've never heard of that.

It's looks like it would be a good movie, but it's gonna open in the summer.

Well as long as Shymalan is a fan.
*Hopes*

I hope this will be good. Live-action movies are notorious for turning out badly.
Dragon Ball Evolution is submitted for your disapproval. XD

Starting with "Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged" which was a Yu-Gi-Oh fan's attempt at shortening the fluff-filled show into a palatable length, and make it funny (and make fun of 4 kids a lot... Invisible guns, pew pew pew!), people started following his (Little Kuriboh's) format and "abridging" other shows, which meant post-LK that their parody kept the basic plot of the show they were "abridging" just a fair bit shorter and with a lot of altered dialogue.
Besides Yu-Gi-Oh abridged, there is also
Gan Xingba's Avatar abridged
MasakoX and Vegeta3986's Naruto Abridged
Megami33's Sailormoon abridged (borderline R rated...)
HBI2k's Berserk abridged (as R rated as the show it's based on)
Team Dattebayo's Death note abridged (which doesn't quite follow the DN story, instead having Light killing annoying anime characters like the DBZ cast)
a bunch more, with the penultimate show being
Team4star's Dragonball Z abridged. TFS is made of MaxakoX, Vegeta3986, Megami33, HBI2k, Takahata101, Lanipator, and features cameos by other abridgers, including Little Kuriboh, Gan Xingba, LordQuadros...
There are about 1000 of them out there, perhaps 10 good ones, and Wikipedia doesn't think they exist.

Usually his focus on making a shocking twist is what makes him fail as a director, I think. I think the twist in this one's gonna be pretty obvious.
Aang's the avatar.
Edit: Also, the abridged series are funny. At least in the case of Yu-Gi-Oh and DBZ abridged.

I agree with you in every case except Signs, which was just plain
. That film was flawed in so many other ways that to blame its badness on merely his misguided focus lets him off the hook for a whole host of problems.

I think signs would have been a passable "spring loaded cat" style B-Flick were it not for the fact that the whole hook was the water thing. That was the point at which it transitioned from creepy to corny for me.

Ha! Yes, exactly. BTW, my wife and I have disagreements about that film all the time. Surely if aliens are smart enough to develop interstellar travel, then they'd stay away from a planet made up of 70% water, whose beings are 90% water! Right?

Nah. I'm guessing they'd make Man-Jerky. That wasn't the part that bothered me. The part that bothered me was that they were walking around naked when any cursory examination of the atmosphere would have confirmed that was a terrible idea. And why weren't the ones attacking the more humid parts of the world getting terrible rashes if not melting outright.

I think Signs was pretty good up until the aliens got shown. Once they showed the aliens that was where the film threw up its hands and said "I give up." Combined with the water thing and the wife's final words and it was just too cheesy to take seriously.
And although I like to make fun of Shyamalan I have to admit I thought Unbreakable was good. :\

I loved his first couple of movies. And you have to admit that there was a reason that he jumped from being a total unknown to the highest paid script writer in Hollywood literally over one weekend. But yeah... signs totally breaks down at the end.

Any word on why Shyamalan decided to cast a bunch of white people into roles that are supposed to be Asian yet? I mean I don't want to ASSUME blatant racism but some other explanation might be kinda nice.

I can't wait to see M. Night Shyamalan's movie about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life starring Jackson Rathbone as Rev. King.

People like to beat on M. Night for every film but the Sixth Sense, but I generally like his works.
Sure, the Sixth Sense is his best, but Signs was cool (if implausible) and Unbreakable was just awesome with the comic book themes and all. Lady in the Water was very strange, and I think the monkeys looked dumb, but it had a mythopoeic excellence that was impossible for me to dislike. The Village got bad marks for having a trailer that gave away the twist, but I never saw the trailer and therefore liked it. Having the main character be blind added a whole level of suspense that would otherwise be impossible.
I didn't see The Happening, and it doesn't sound intriguing, really. Avatar: The Last Airbender looks cool, though. I haven't seen the show so I may be able to enjoy it when long-time fans of the series can't.

Maybe it was the AMOUNT of water that mattered? And who says a being that masters interstellar transportation has to be wise?
I liked signs. I loved Unbreakable. I'm pretty cool with the village. I'm... Well, I didn't hate the Lady in the Water... not really. And I hated the Happening. But that was just one movie. I never actually saw sixth sense, though, so maybe that's my problem. Maybe I'd just be so amazed by it that I'd be disappointed by the rest of his movies.

Yah because the guy playing Zuko is TOTALLY not Indian...
O_o does it matter?
I think he chose the cast based on talent.... not race.

I know you didn't mean it this way, but you just implied there's no talented Asian actors.
Here's the thing. The characters in the show? Asian. Why would he cast white people? That makes as much sense as casting a white person to play Rev. King, hence my last post. I find it difficult to believe no Asian people tried out for the roles, and I refuse to believe there wasn't at least a handful of talented Asian people who could have played the roles.
Since no one has offered a plausible alternative to why Shyamalan defiantly cast white actors in Asian roles, I can only conclude that it was a racist decision. Since I would be ashamed to support something blatantly racist, I can now safely state I will not be seeing this movie no matter how good it is.
If you want to see it that is cool and if you think his decision is not racist, that is cool as well. Just saying that so nobody thinks I'm going all judgmental or anything.
