While I think Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton make a nice combo; though I'm not sure if I can get used to Johnny Depp's makeup job. Still Johnny Depp = Mad Hatter = <3
I'll definitely see it. It seems to be adding quite a few things the Disney version left out, which will be quite enjoyable to see.

I dunno, I'm pretty stoked about this. I mean, Johnny Depp looks terrifying, but I mostly just want to see Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar. XDD

But yeah, I think this looks pretty good! I'll definitely go see it.

Thanks TC I noticed a poster for this at my local movie theater and had forgotten about it thanks for the link!

I will probably go see it, it looks pretty interesting and I have liked all the Tim Burton movies I have seen so far.

I know. I really am curious if Burton is just going to use Rickman's voice, or we'll actually see him in the movie. But yeah, definitely on my must-see list. Does anyone know the actual premier date, or is it just "Coming in 2010"?

I believe it's supposed to be March 5th..

I'm definitely looking forward to Alice. Johnny Depp + Alan Rickman + Helena Bonham Carter + Christopher Lee = Pure awesome. I saw a ten foot wall scroll of just the Mad Hatter at a movie theatre, but sadly they wouldn't let me have it after the movie leaves theatres. :(

The movie is set to be release on March 5th.

The plot to the story is, 19-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

....oh, not a retelling then?

Well a new story could work. I mean Depp would hardly get screen time if they just re-made the original stories.

I am still looking forward to this. I liked Hook.

Dude, Christopher Lee is gonna be in it, too? That's epic; I didn't know about that. Any news on what part he's playing?

According to IMDB, Christopher Lee will be playing The Jabberwock...

Alan Rickman - The Caterpillar

Anne Hathaway - The White Queen

Mia Wasikowska - Alice Kingsley

It sort of sounds like Chronicles of Narnia with the direction they are going.

But whatever it looks good so I will definitely see it.

I would like it better if it didn't sound like it was going to be the Mad Hatter movie instead of Alice.
The Synopsis forAlice in Wonderland from IMDb.com

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.

Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. "This character is off his rocker," Zanuck says.

Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO's In Treatment, has the coveted title role. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet."

There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen, whose favorite retort is "Off with their heads," has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. "The book itself is pretty dark," he notes. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."
Ah, I wondered why The Mad Hatter seemed so familar with Alice in the trailer (besides the fact that Wonderland is weird anyways). Now it makes more sense.
I haven't seen the Disney version in what seems like forever, but didn't they leave out the Jabberwock? I'm looking forward to see it finally on screen, with Christopher Lee's voice no less. XD
So the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts have been merged into one character?
Also the Disney version was a buch of radomness with no thought behind it.

They were merged together in the Disney version too (The Queen of hearts uses a lot of the Red Queen's lines) and also in that American Mcgee game.

Oh, I thought it was a retelling of Alice in Wonderland and I felt pretty shocked about Alice being played by an adult woman. I still think she looks quite older than 17, but w/e. Being Burton's I'm required to see it on principle.

Well, I think it looks pretty awesome, except I think they screwed up the Mad Hatter's look.
