Look for it July of next year.
I'm optimistic. We'll have to how the cast goes, since I can't see anyone except Jack DeSena himself playing Sokka. Thoughts?

I remember some big deal awhile back about how all the actors they were planning on using were white and people got upset, mostly because Katara and Sokka have darker skin. I don't remember much about that, though, XD. Anyway, I will end up seeing this movie because I love Avatar, XD. The trailer looks pretty good, but these pictures worry me. Where is Zuko's scar? And his ponytail? And his pale face?

Well, if you look closely at the pic of Zuko walking in the snow, you can see his scar. Personally i like him without his ponytail.
Can't wait till this movie comes out! Gonna be epic!

Saw the preview last night, after a little struggle. I'll probably still watch it, but I'm hesitant.

Zuko should have that hairstyle for the second movie, though, not this one. I understand toning down the cartoonish elements of character design that would look ridiculous on any real person, but I don't think having Zuko's hair style as it was in the first season of the show would really make the actor look strange. Also, Aang's costume needs more orange.
All that being said, I can live with how the characters are represented, especially since the film seems promising. The director said he's being totally faithful to the TV show, save for cutting out the little kid humor. Though I'm really happy to see a teaser, we'll see what happens when a trailer from the actual movie comes out.

Well considering the Teaser Trailer was just 50 Seconds of Aang blowing out the candles in a dimly lit room, and another 50 of zoom out to see the Fire Nation attacking his temple...
I want to see more before I judge. I do know that Jackson Rathbone is playing Sokka and he's pretty hilarious. I've also seen picutures of him sporting Sokka's hair and it looks really close! So I think he'll do a good job. And the guy who plays Zuko played the main Character in Slumdog Millionaire. Which was amazing...
I think some of the colors is toned down so it can be more realistic?
XD maybe Patel had issues with shaving his head?

Frankly I loved the tv series. It is a fine example of storytelling that I often refer to. So many great elements and the character studies are better then most of what is on tv now, animated or not.
However, this is the movie not the series. I am willing to grant some artistic freedom as long as they don't destroy the mythos of the show. I am cautiously optomistic.
Also, thanks for the links. I didn't know the teaser was on YouTube.

And therein lies my caution about the show: The Mythos. I don't care about their looks. Honestly, anime often looks kind of caucasian anyway and as an aside, we rarely get perfect interpretation on looks. I mean, Batman's been wearing a rubber suit since 1989 for pete's sake!
They're going to condense, and they're going to change. It's the degree to which they do it that will make or break the film.

I read a few of the articles on the blog and the director has stated that he's pretty much following the show. I'm glad that three movies are already planned because that means that the whole story won't be squeezed into one film and that also might mean that the end of this movie is going to have some kind of hint to the second movie that wouldn't necessarily create the need for a second movie, if that makes sense. But at the same time "being faithful to the show" means different things for different people. I hope the characters stay the same and that they spend a good amount of time on the important events in book one. I'd also rather them not mess with the order of the plot in general, but we'll see what happens.

I watched this interview -->

It seems that M. Night wrote the scripts WITH the creators of avatar! That is something i haven't seen before.
So, i think that these movies are going to be really faithful to the original story! I have high hopes for this movie.

I saw an interview with M. night and the creators of avatar, and they said that they were writing the movies in tandem! So i have doubts this movie will be untrue to the story.

Ha ha, people are optimistic about an M. Night Shaymalan film. I can't wait to see who the bad guy is.
"Gotcha! I was M. Night Shaymalan all along! Just kidding I was really a football mascot! Just kidding I was really a forest fire!"

I saw the trailer on the official site, it doesn't look like it will be too bad. Of course, they could screw up anything, but I'll hope for the best.

Normally I would say I was cautiously optimistic but I'm much more pessimistic about this movie than I usually am. So I will say I am cautiously pessimistic this time.

I haven't seen the show but the Trailer doesn't look too bad... However it IS directed by M. Night Shalamasuck and his trailers have fooled me in the past. I remember being so excited about The Village. I thought the trailer was so awesome I couldn't wait to see. Wow! What a piece of crap that was. I was in utter shock. Really fooled me with that marketing there. Movie was nothing like the trailer. Oh just thinking about it hurts >.< I'll never forgive him for that one. Well.. then Lady in the Water sounded cool and the trailer didn't look that bad. I thought MAYBE he could redeem himself. OH MAN HE DID IT AGAIN!!! Not as big of a disappointment but still was garbage. I didn't even bother with the Happening and I heard it sucked anyway so I'll take their word. Not hard to believe.
So yea... I'm not holding my breath on this one. It is a different type of movie for him though so maybe this is the stuff he should have been directing all along rather than trying so hard to be then next Alfred Hitchcock.

The trailer didn't feel very epic to me and Shyamalan hasn't been very well, so we'll see. (The Happening was horrible...)
in my opinion anime to live action is set to fail.
Except that both the cartoon and movie are American, so maybe there's some hope, heh.

I LOOOVE Avatar, so if the movie sucks, M. Night Shaymalan will be lynched. XD But seriously, it can't be any worse than the Spyro movie coming out. I'll have to wait and see before I pass judgement.

This This this!!
But really I'm a little nervous. I don't know how this could turn out. I'm hoping that because it's already an established series and show that there isn't too much he can really do to mess it up, as long as he stays true to the series.

hehe I have a friend in Second Life, I got her hooked on Firefly (yes I know that isn't anime haha), Avatar, and Peach Girl.
Well trying to get her into Peach Girl....
She knows about the live action too and she put some Firefly and Avatar stuff on her myspace
She also enjoyed Spirited Away

I like how people with massive sums of money keep thinking that animated fantasy stories can be faithfully adapted into live-action films. I predict fail.

I haven't seen anything by M. Night, but I've heard that his movies aren't all that great. Also, movies based on things that aren't movies usually end up being bad. As a guy who liked Avatar but didn't watch it religiously, I hope that the movie turns out all right but figure that it probably won't. Truthfully, I also have to wonder why we need a live action Avatar movie in the first place, since it wasn't that long ago that the anime ended.

Wait...there's a Spyro movie coming out? As in Spyro the Dragon? I probably won't see it, but I wouldn't mind knowing more about it.
