School spirit!

A thread dedicated to school sports. Does your school have any fantastic teams? Ours is the football team; we're currently undefeated. Even though ours is a small town, over 6,000 people showed up for the end-of-season game which was supposed to be a nailbiter, but we bet the other team 54-0. Now they're going on to regionals.

I played soccer this fall, but apparently they lost a lot of seniors last year (we all play varsity; there aren't enough girls to form a junior-varsity team). We beat everyone except for the bigger schools... We got 3rd in the conference because of that. >.<

Well I just found out our college football teams record:
2-0 in the division
4-2 overall
So far we're doing great!

But about spirit... Well Texas State isn't really that involved in their sports. But hopefully if/when we work up the ranks to 1A status and play A&M and UT; hopefull by then our school's spirit will be much better. Go Bobcats!

My school has no real teams or spirit. For spirit week, we have to give money. We get nothing in return. We just give them money.

My high school alma mater no longer exists. When it did we were part of the
B League in Washington State High School Basketball. We didn't have a
baseball or football team when I was there.
My college alma mater has a soccer team but no football team.

My school Bishop Chatard has a ton of school spirit. We are a huge sports highschool it's our namesake. Our football team has won state the past 6 years in a row, our basketball team has won state 3 out of the last 5 years, we just won the girl's volleyball championship last Friday for the first time since like 1976, and just about every other team we have still hangs right up there.

My high school is known for football. It's a bit strange because in the 80's I think we lost about 30 games in a row over the course of several years, but since we won our class at state in 1993 we've made the playoffs every year. It is very tough for my HS to win state championships in most sports because of the way the classes (HS sports classifications, based on factors related to school enrollment) are arranged in IL. In almost all sports there are only two classes--big and small. And my HS is stuck at the bottom of the big class. In other words, we're a public HS of 850 students competing against large private schools or public schools of up to 2500-4000 students.

As far as college goes, My alma mater, Illinois Wesleyan, is in the non-scholarship division of the NCAA, NCAA Division 3. In other words, we sell our school based on tradition, quality, and academics--but not scholarship money. IWU has a longstanding tradition of excellent men's basketball. God has used IWU men's basketball to draw me back and closer to Him, as He knows I am a huge sports fan, and a fan of IWU basketball (and my HS's football team) in particular. So He has been glorified a lot in IWU's success. They have been to three D3 Final Fours during the last 10 years, won two third places (they have a third-place game in D3) and one championship, all of which God brought about. I'm excited because this year's basketball season is only a little over a week from starting!
