The whole ending was essentially a big sequel tease, IMHO. Not that it was a bad ending (it was a really good, really depressing ending), but it was obviously an opening for the next movie.
Not too psyched about Hathaway... or I wasn't at first anyway... I can't see her doing the Catwoman role... Selina Kyle on the other hand, I think she'd be very good at though. So maybe she has a couple tricks up her sleeve that we haven't seen on film... (or I haven't seen anyway...)... I thought Ledger was a horrible choice for the Joker and he sure surprised with that one so I think Nolan knows what he's doing.
