I've had this happen to me with CAA alot in the past. When I did a trace route a few months ago, I found that a packet from my computer could not get past a certain server. This the only thing that I could find that might the problem.

Hmm, AnimeAngels seems to be working for me right now... perhaps their server got a bit too busy. I think that's why the CAA sometimes glitches out.

Anime Angels busy? That's a good one. (The busiest we've ever been was 13 users at a time. That's nothing compared to you guys here.)

Seriously, it's possible that maybe Keely was just doing some maintenance at the time; but I rarely have any trouble accessing AA.

Anyone else getting this error when they try to access the AA oekaki?

"Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/httpd/vhosts/animeangels.net/httpdocs/oekaki/dbconn.php on line 7

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/httpd/vhosts/animeangels.net/httpdocs/oekaki/dbconn.php on line 7
Could not connect to the MySQL database."

Hmm... now I wonder if something is wrong. I've been getting this error while trying to get at the message boards:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

I won't worry about it now; but if I still have trouble getting in later I'll contact Keely to see what's happening.

The AnimeAngels forums have been down for a while now. Any news?

Both of those errors point to a MySQL problem. Likly the service (mysqld) was disabled, or the username/password used to access it (in the PHP modules) is no longer accepted. It could be a "password timeout" error, I guess. But without access to the system, there's no way of knowing. If anyone knows of any other sites hosted on that server (and that use MySQL), we could check to see if those sites have similar errors. That would explain everything.

Or if anyone knows keely's email addres, send her a quick note. (NOTE: Don't post the email address here. That's rude. This site get's crawled and it's just no fun. Hmmm. That would be a cool hack for the vBulletin software. Translate all email addresses into a javascript that displays them fine to end users, but won't let them be crawled... Hmm...)

*walks off to PM noz*

I can't respond to forum problems, but to the part about not finding the server while someone else could, I only have this to say:

Monkey's on the satelites (that's the response that someone at TechTV gave me to a similar problem)

The real problem is that somewhere between Animeangels and your ISP, the connection is cut, but between anime Angels and the ISP of people who CAN visit the site, it's not cut... It's called an internet(work) for a reason... Not every computer connects to every ISP, but can have several connections between them. If one link goes down, it can cause trouble for some, but not for others.

As for downed forums, I can't answer that one.
