My Mcaffee auto scanner keeps picking up a kwbot.e in the System Volume Information folder. I run a full system scan and nothing comes up. I go to Syammtec(sp?).com and look at the virus definitions and follow the guidelines on how to remove the virus and none of the stuff the virus is supposed to do has been done. Also when I try to access the System Volume Information folder it says Access denied. When I look at the properties of the folder it says it has 0 bytes in it. Can anyone help?

Ouch. The W32.Kwbot.E.Worm strikes again. That hit back in.. Feb? March? I think March. It's a kazaa virus, I think. Maybe it spread through other p-p systems too, but I'd have to look into that. Ug. That's a nasty one too. Do you have administrator access to that system? Have you looked for the copy file? (Dllmem or DLLmem32).exe ? How old is the machine? Would it be worth it to do a re-install anyway?

I can't think of too many people who would actively wish for viruses on their systems, actually... :)

my friend used to. he collected every single virus he can possibly contain onto a disk. of course, these were the days when hard drives were rare.

it just so happens that the disk refuses to be formated. must be one of the viruses. that friend made SURE that no virus altered the command.com and the two other system files though... just so he can boot it and show it to people. on their computers. mhwa ha ha, i never fell on that trick.

woo! I'm in a good mood today! (and no one cares!)

While your on the topic of viruses, you might wanna do this:
go to "start", "find"- and under "files or folders" type in "jdbgmgr.exe"
That be a virus that doesnt show up on mcaffee, or Norton anti-virus. n_n it stays dormant for 14 days then slowly eats at your hard drive, but I think that the date on the virus is something to throw you off- most people that make those things are insane!
Just make sure that if you have it (it will have an icon of a teddy bear) that you delete it from the recycle bin- DONT OPEN IT!! 9_9

Which is why you check everything that anyone ever sends you via e-mail to make sure that it's not some chain-letter/hoax being passed around.

And one of these days I'm going to see how many of my friends/family listen to me when I "pass on" a warning about the dangers of di-hydrogen monoxide :D

DHMO. haha, it is one of the most corrosive and common substance that inhabits all things, which is the primary reasons of acid rain, natural disasters and part of so many other polutants that it's not funny anymore.

HAHAHA

why do we breathe oxygen when it's one of the most reactive element in the periodic table? HAHAHA

I hope she missed! :o

It's not as bad as all that Dirge (unless you're the one to forward such things to me  )... I have a very computer savvy reletive who installed that fake MS update that's been making the rounds, then couldn't figure out why his system kept crashing! :o
