If it doesnt say there, i'm using a 256 9550 radeon.
The same thing happens with CS: Source now...which is weird.

Edit: Oh yeah, Half Life: Source doesnt crash.

I don't think it's your setup. Got the disk in the drive?

Please note that almost all large programs (and even smaller ones, depending on quality), especially HL2, have flaws in them. Sometimes they just die. This is probably one of them. If not, it's your hardware. Hey, it could be Windows too, in fact, it probably is.

Problem is, error messages like that make completely no sense whatsoever to anyone other than the developers. So my advice is you report the bug to Valve instead of ask people on a forum :P Unless it was the Steam forums...

basically what it's saying is that the program needs to access some data at point a, which is referenced from point b. Somewhere in that equation, the chain broke and it never got from point b to a.
1. look for patches on Steam's main sites.
2. reinstall if that doesn't work.
3. Get more RAM (doesn't look like a plausible way out in your case. You have plenty)

1. Steam doesnt need you to use Cds, the games are authenticated everytime you play.

2. It's happened 10 times since yesterday

3. Aw, I love you guys thats why i bother you.

4.reinstalling it is what im going to do right after I run a memory check.

thanks guys :thumb:

like what a lot of people said, try getting another 512 card

perhaps your processor speed? Mine is 2.8 and it works... maybe... it doesn't like 2.7?
