Hi!
I was wondering is there is such a thing as a DVD-R drive that can read all regions of DVDs, and if one can change the video card in a laptop. Does anyone know? Thanks!

The closest thing I've seen is a DVD drive that allows you to change the region a limited number of times. If you're really desperate, you can always get 2 dvd drives and set the regions differently for each.

I've never seen the inside of a laptop, but I've heard they can be pretty packed and hard to upgrade. My guess is that it has a video chip built into the motherboard with no room for upgrades (that is, no PCI/AGP slot) but maybe someone who has actually been inside a laptop could confirm/correct me on this.

You can definatly change the drives in laptops. As for graphics and sound, they are almost always built in. You can usually add about 2 extra PC cards in as well

Thanks glitch! You do have to pay money, but for someone like me who tends to move about quite a bunch (to me that is; others might think otherwise), it looks like a pretty sweet deal.

mine has no region setting. yes, both the 'hardware' player in my living room AND my computer's DVD-ROM.
how?
most 'hard' players have this code thing that unlocks region settings. they all do. well, most of them do. you just gotta find it on the internet, or guess it yourself. it's like finding a cheat with your remote controller...
as for the DVD-ROMs on your computers, you'll have to either flash it, or get a program that lets you change the regions freely. dvdidle is such example, but i flashed mine so i can do away without paying a cent. look for DVD-ROM Flashing on google or something. most are there...
