Ohhhhh! Apple's new OS X 10.4 Tiger is arriving in a few days!

Not immediately. I don't have $129 burning a hole in my pocket, and for that matter, I'm still using Jaguar because of compatibility problems with some of my legacy software and Panther (so I imagine Tiger would be worse).

I do run Panther on some of my servers, but I have no compelling reason to upgrade yet.

well one of the teachers in my school actually told me that Panther slowed his computer down, so he too is using jaguar

hmm if i stooped down... perhaps my ibook would run faster too?

i know that many of the added extras are like... "bleh... not BIG of a deal" most of them could come through auto updates and stuff

and thats why i use camino and firefox and safari on my mac

You do, of course, realize that - while they products are designed for backward compatabilty - the OS *is* designed to take advange of latest hardware updates. What would be the point of developing new hardware otherwise...?
