Ally-Ann's Poems

I don't know how this thread will turn out, but I decided to post some of my poems here for the heck of it. I don't know what you'll think of it, but here's the first one:
I wake up from the land of dreams
While the songbird quietly chirps and sings
The dawn is majestic on the horizon
With the blood red star that is our sun
The ground is damp with morning dew
For many lives to start anew
For friendships to form strong bonds
Starts with the beautiful break of dawn.

Beautiful! Awesome wording, a good rhythm, and the theme is sweet. Can I have your autograph?
There are some things though. the rhyme isn't perfect (Horizon" and "sun" are a little awkward) but coming from someone who rarely ever rhymes, it is really good!

This poem is first in a series of poems called "Dreaming". This is called Dreaming: Space. Let me know what y'all think!
I'm flying through the galaxy
I'm riding on a star
Past Mars and Jupiter
I have traveled afar
This feeling of freedom
This feeling of flight
The stars I fly past
And their spectacular light
I rocket around Saturn
And dance on the rings
I whip past Uranus
A beautiful sight to see
I breeze by Neptune
And fly in the wind
I slow down near Pluto
No longer a whirlwind
I fly a bit more
Into a nebula
I zip by Betelgeuse
And circle around Spica
It's so beautiful here
I never want it to end
But I blink once
And I find myself in bed
So my adventure has ended
For now I must cope
With everyday life
And I will dream
I hope.

I like that last one, but it makes me feel kinda sad because I would like to visit those places. (I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a little kid.)

Aw. Thanks! This one's a short poem. This actually happens during summer, too.
As I crawl into bed
At the end of the day
I can hear a cricket
Chirping away
I lay there in bed
Lulled by the sound
I'm falling asleep
Music surrounds
I dream of the sky
The starry, night sky
Oh, sweet little cricket
Sing me a lullaby.

I am so not a poetry guy (goes over my head for the most part >.>) but that cricket one is really neat, imo!

I'm not sure if this is considered grave-digging, but I just remembered one of the first poems I ever wrote:
The Hobo from Togo
When I lived in Togo Togo Togo
I met a hobo hobo hobo
He said his name was Billy Billy Billy
I said his name was silly silly silly
Then he kicked me kicked me kicked me
In my knee knee knee
Then he ran ran ran
Away from me me me
That hobo hobo hobo
From Togo Togo Togo

And my most recent poem:
The Peanut Poem
I walked into the kitchen
I was hungry for a snack
So I opened up the peanut jar
And then stuck in my hand
I grabbed some with one hand
And took them by the handful
I don't bother shelling them
I always eat them whole
There isn't a person I know
That dislikes these small legumes
It's impossible not to like them
Everyone likes them, I assume
I know that it sounds funny
To eat the peanut shell
I don't care what you think
I like the flavor well
So don't tell me I'm weird
Or eat the shell I can't
Isn't completely obvious
That I'm part elephant?
So, that's my peanut poem
I'm afraid that I must go
I'm going to eat my peanuts
Because I love them so.
==========================================================
Yeah, I know some of the words got redundant in that poem, but my mind was just sort of blank...... Speaking of blank, I wrote a poem with that title:
Blank
My mind is blank
My mind is numb
I cannot think
I must be dumb
Why does this
Happen to me?
I try to write
I can't even rhyme
See?
This poem is short
So's my brain
I'm being dull
This is insane
I think that's all
There's nothing to write
Goodbye for now
Until next time.

Blessed
If you are like me, then you are blessed
You are fortunate and nothing less
You have a family along with clothes
You have a bed inside a home
You have good food, clean, cool water
You are a beloved son or daughter
You take these belssings all for granted
You don't know that you are fortunate
But what if you weren't this blessed at all?
What would happen if you started to fall?
You have no family, no decent clothes
You have no bed inside a home
Your food is scarce, there's no clean water
You're not recognized as a son or daughter
You are starting to drown in your own sin
Your faith in God has been worn thin
You feel that there's no purpose to live
There's nothing in life that you can give
And every night for blessing you cry
Like people who see you and pass on by
So praise the Lord He has blessed you
Thank our God you can start anew
If you still feel there's a miracle God must send
It's alright. God will provide for you, my friend.
I know I didn't stay in rythm the last two lines, but I tend to do that with a lot of my poems, no matter how hard I try. ^^;

thanks for the laughs
that last one there got me thinking. geez, i'm blessed.
it's fine if your poems don't rhyme. the fact that they do is quite pleasant. poems are poems, or so i'm told, if they follow a beat (and some English major would be glad to explain that, i'm sure).
good job

Thank you! Here's a poem about spring, called..... Spring!
I step onto the porch, and into the rays
Of the bright, shining sun on this spring day
The birds are singing their song of glee
And I grin at the beauty that I can see
I smell the scent of blooming flowers
Waft in the air from the spring rain showers
The bees are buzzing around with work
And butterflies seem to dance on my shirt
So, Spring has come in all her majesty
With bushes and trees wreathed in peonies
Now I must part, there's work to be done
The type of work that includes enjoying the sun.

Wow! You're so good! I liked "Blessed" a lot. I also write poems, but most of them are in Norwegian (I do have some English too). God blessed you with this talent

Thank you so much! And wow, Ninety7keys, Norwegian? Nice. C= This is a collection of poems that are individually named, but all together I call them "My Fancy and I". Each poem is four lines, which I didn't intend for, ironically.
My Fancy and I
Piano
There's nothing I would rather do
Than play the piano when I'm free
And to hear the melody ringing out
As my fingers dance across the keys
The Beach
Crashing on the shore are waves
That are roaring on the shore for me
I can feel the sand between my toes
As I watch the beautiful, sparkling sea
Writing
The paper like a canvas
Imagination endless
Writing is my haven
A light inside the darkness
Cricket
Chirping endless songs at night
Their lullabies are like dim lights
Easing away all my fright
Music surrounds me tonight
Sun
Into the warm rays
On a summer day
Melting all my cares away
To start brand new today
The Moon
Tell me all your stories, Moon
Share with me your wisdom
Tell me secrets, new and old
Tell me where you came from
Rain
Many little rain drops
Making music quietly
Nature's largest orchestra
Playing me a symphony
Galaxy
Dark, mysterious, beautiful sky
Peppered with stars and planets
Oh, how I wish that I could fly
To the Milky Way for granted
Wind
Wind, where are you going?
From where di you come?
Your'e in such a hurry
Wind, please stay for awhile
Angel
Descending from the clouds with grace
Praising God with song and lyre
They never cease to give him praise
Their joy is spread like wild fire
God
I've never seen Him
I've never touched Him
But I know He's there
Because I can hear Him
The End
Knowing that it's over
And a feeling of completion
Isn't always triumphant
But I know we'll meet again.
"Wind" was my first time trying to write a none-rhyming poem. I dun like writing none-rhyming poems. >.>

"Ally-Ann"
Your Poems Truly Dance
As Your Hand Is Penning
Like A Literary Romance
It's Only The Beginning.
Don't Loose Heart
Even If You Slip
Value Every Part
As I give You A Tip
Perfection Will Perfect
With Practice And Time
Every Dot It Will Connect
As you Finish The Rhyme.
Your poems are awesome Ally-Ann!!

Thanks, Mister! That was an awesome poem. =D
This is the poem that follows Dreaming: Space, the first poem I posted on here. I wrote this when I was completely new to poetry.
Dreaming: Ocean
Underneath the water I plunge
Feeling the water hit my face
Swimming towards my favorite spot
As if I were in a race
I swim beside a whale and wave
And flash a great big grin
The whale looks over at me and smiles
Gently waving his fin
I move away from the whale
And swim near a school of fish
I do my best to swim like them
But it's not easy to accomplish
So I swim away from the school
And watch a pod of dolphins
They play and race and jump the waves
Chasing each others' fins
I swim through the water a little further
Wondering what I can find
I spot a beluga moving with the current
And her baby tagging behind
I swim and hide behind a large rock
Spying on a large shark
He's sees me and I try to swim away
Then everything goes dark.......
My eyes shoot open
I am no longer in the dream
The shark and all his teeth are gone
I am all in one piece it seems
The dream is no more
Nothing but a memory
And so I will have to wait before
The next dream will come to me......
This is also another poem I wrote when I was new to poetry.
Woodland Fairy
She giggles peeking around a tree
People can't see her, she's a fairy
She skips on flowers without beeing seen
And flies through the woods along with the breeze
Her rosy face is aglow with mirth
She smells of sweet poppies and the scent of earth
She dances with flowers that fall from the trees
And plays games of tag with the bumblebees
She zips through the air, not a care in the world
The flag of joy in her heart is unfurled
During the night she skips on a pond
And dances with fireflies until the break of dawn
She rests under a toadstool, her blanket a leaf
"A fairy's life is hard," She yawns, then falls asleep.

Yaaaaa!!! I applaude thee fellow poet! Though I'm not really a poet, more a fiction writer, I have written some poems. Alas, I haven't read all your poems yet, but you seem very talented!
Looking forward to the rest I have yet to read.
