Olim Iterum (Once Again): A Poem
PostPosted: Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:56 pm
Here's a poem I wrote this afternoon...
It's based on something going on in my life right now. I felt like posting it here, hehe. It's out of my nature to do something like this (I am not a poet), so... & .
It's to a guy that I like in my church (we play in the church band together). Snap, I hope he doesn't have CAA XD!
Here I am
Again.
Despite the oath I swore
To be in this trance nevermore--
Here I am
Again.
Isn't it funny how things do change?
I sang, mere moons ago, my heart's requiem,
Declared war on adolescent love,
That annoyance--pitiful dove,
But--here I am
Again.
Isn't it funny how one can be entranced
By a soft hand warming my cold fingers.
How I at first thought you were nothing but another face
Not knowing the danger of our hands' embrace.
Oh--here I am
Again.
Isn't it funny how I long to see your smile--
I can't believe I'm drowning once more.
Am I forever doomed to have my heart smashed to dust,
To bleed resentment, to be left to rust?
Almighty, help me--here I am
Again.
Here, love, take these shards of what once was--
Don't let them cut the fingers that play
The harmonious chords so beautiful--
The fingers, I pray, won't crush me--be careful.
Am I doomed to fall
Again?
