This is a ode I wrote for my creative writing class about wind! Enjoy! Obviously i worship God and not the wind... and Ode is just a type of poetry in which you speak to something in first person and praise/curse it, etc.
Wind
By John T. Mathis
Oh wind!
Your invisible force is both cool and warm.
You sail cloud ships through your clear currents.
You soar through trees,
You hush rushing thrushes,
You gently move small wisps of my hair to and fro.
Oh wind!!!
You crash down on the rocks;
Beating them into oblivion.
You wreck houses,
You destroy worlds.
You kill crafts cunningly:
Ships whirl into harsh, jagged rocks;
Airplanes are harshly yanked into cyclone’s clutches.
Oh wind…
You make music in your small chimes,
You are silent when you ponder precious people.
You are a gentle giant,
You are a hungry lion waiting for attack,
You are a sleeping child.
You are wind.
